The concept is perfect, BUT in either of our SUV's we cannot get the mirror to stay put. We start out with it perfectly in place. After getting on the highway and bump here or there forget it. The mirror falls and slips and is useless. Why is this such a difficult thing to fix? I wouldn't recommend this for an SUV. Maybe it's better in a car?

This product is one of the biggest wastes of money in baby gear I have purchased! It does not stay securely in place and is constantly moving so that baby is either out of view or it completely falls back flat. I've completely stopped using it at this point because I got tired of constantly messing with it. Whoever thought it would be a great idea to secure a mirror over a baby using velcro wasn't thinking things through.

This mirror was much bigger than I expected but for me that is a good thing. I can see the car seat very well (I'm sure I'll see baby when he comes), however it was hard to install on my car. I was kind of anticipating this because I live in Japan and have an older japanesse car (very similar to a 4 runner). It was super easy to SAFELY "jimmy rig" it. To me this is a great mirror, just not made for all cars (especially SUVs).

I'm happy so far with this car seat mat. I have the 2007 version, which is shaped slightly different from the one in the picture (I believe that SafeFit had to change the size so that the mat wouldn't interfere with seats employing LATCH). As for the mat's thinness, I consider a thin mat a bonus. A thicker mat, in my opinion, is more likely to influence installation and performance (a sentiment that others here seem to share). My only purpose is to keep the plastic base of our infant seat from directly contacting our car's cloth seats--a job that this mat does well. The stickiness of the mat (think Yoga mat) also helps the car seat stay in place a bit better (the plastic on the bottom of our infant seat is very smooth). My only criticism is that if you are using a rear-facing seat you will have to fold the top portion over so that it doesn't flip onto your baby's legs (I had to figure this out myself because the mat doesn't come with instructions). I have to add that this mat costs several dollars less than the Prince Lionheart mat that everyone seems to like so much.



UPDATE (March 2010): I stopped using car seat mats based on a recommendation from a car seat tech. Apparently, they can grip the car seat so well that the installer is fooled into thinking that the seat is installed tighter than it actually is. In an accident, the mat will not stabilize the seat.

I went to the CHP office to get my car seat checked, and the officer said that car seat protection mats are not approved and considered a major safety hazard because it causes the car seat to become loose. If you use these mats, the car seat will not be installed tightly enough and can be a real danger during automobile accidents. DON'T BUY!!

But.... with my 6 yr olds car seat which is the Alpha Omega Purchased back in 2000 this grabber is not high enough to protect the seat all the way up! my sugestion is to make it longer! but all in all its a great product for the cost!!

I really like my Car Seat Grabber!!! It protects the cloth seats from overturned sippy cups (that supposedly don't leak, but occasionaly do!) and cracker crumbs and such. It also prevents those annoying indentations in the vehicle cloth/leather seat once the car seat is removed!

I only gave it four stars because there was one downside (for me) that my car seat is taller than the Car Seat Grabber, so there are a couple of little marks on the vehicle seat back where the car seat rubs. Although, no product is perfect for every situation!

I think it is absolutely worth the money!

I bought this bag for an airplane trip with my family, this bag is HORRIBLE! The carseat barely fit in it, once you got it in it was hard to zip, and security at the airport had to take the seat out because their equipment could not see through the bag enough (this happened both times coming and going at two different TSA checkpoints), odd considering how it was designed FOR TRAVEL! We had to switch planes, and this bag zig zagged through the airport, it was hard to drag, it fell, and never balanced correctly, which by the way caused the bottom of it to rip open. It also didn't fit through the aisles of the plane, I had to pick up the seat and carry it. Don't waste your money!

We used this for a round trip from Atlantic City to Fort Lauderdale to keep our carseat clean, and to make sure the base of the infant seat stayed with the seat. The wheels made it easy to drag along behind me as I pushed a stroller and carried a backpack on my back. Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because it was a little tough to get the seat (Chicco Keyfit 30) into the bag, but once in it was a perfect fit. I hope the bag works as well with the Britax Boulevard we'll be changing to soon, as we have at least 2 more r/t flights planned.

This is a great product...I have traveled with my daughter alone and the backpack style staps have saved me on several occasions. It's also nice if you have to check the seat because it is protected from the "not so gentle" hands of the baggage handlers. The only problem is that it is quite difficult to get the seat into the bag, especially at first, but once you get a system of steps to get it into the bag it gets a little easier.

The item I received did not look like/was not the item I looked at on-line and thought I purchased. The wedge I was shown on-line looked like it would work for my stage 2 convertible car seat that is now rear facing, but will soon be forward facing. I purchased the wedge to help stable it up. The wedge I received looked nothing like the one previewed and does not work with the convertible car seat. It will work wonderful for an infant/newborn car seat, but not the convertible.
