"for the most part its alright" 2010-01-04
By Todd Schmidt (dodge city ks)
We like the looks of this car seat. it is easy to buckle in your infant and has good head support. also it is easy to latch in and out of the base. our only complaint is the material DOES NOT BREATHE. within 20-30 minutes of buckling in your infant their back will be wet with sweat. may be a little on the heavy side. other than that we think its ok.

"Really lightweight and operates one-handed!" 2010-06-26
    By Gina Giano
Very high quality material, and very comfy for baby.

Harness on carseat and stroller is easy to use and get baby in and out of. Easy to unfasten carseat from base and place in stroller. Easy to move base from car to car. A baby head insert is included, and I used it until my child turned a year old- it kept her neck from falling to the side while she slept. Although the carseat doesn't lock into the stroller, it sits fully in the stroller cockpit and so is very secure.

The stroller is surprisingly versatile- I've taken it on rough dirt paths and it was still easy to push and very stable. The height adjustment feature of the handle was great for my husband and I.

My two tiny complaints are that the tray is positioned really far forward (to accommodate the carseat I imagine), making it not very useful as an on-the-go snack and drink holder, as my child is just starting to be able to reach the area at 1 year (while she's strapped it). Also, the adult drink holder is really small- just big enough for a 16oz water bottle or soda (I always drink from a 20oz so its annoying).

Howver, all complaints are forgotten when you realize that it really IS super lightweight and has one-hand operation: I can hold my child in one arm (or the carseat when she was small) while I fold up the stroller. With a little pull against my hip, the stroller halves lock together. Then I can grab the perfectly located handle on the side and slide it into the back of my car (yes with one hand and no I'm not a weightlifter :). I take it out with the same handle, set it down (it stands up on its own vertically- great for storage and for one handed use). Then a little pull unlocks the halves and a snap of the arm fully extends the stroller and its ready to go!

On a recent trip I borrowed a Graco stroller. I thought the Graco had a better-designed cockpit- my now year-old baby's legs dangled comfortably, and she had great access to the tray, all while being buckled in. Also, the cupholder is larger and can fit more types of vessels. The storage accessibility and capacity is about the same on the two types. However, the Graco was a bear to get into the trunk of my car- the thing was extremely bulky, the halves didn't lock together and the thing laid on the ground like a huge heavy lump that I had to wrestle inside the car- no way I was holding my child doing that!

So. Although the Graco has a few little design features that I like better, I would chose my First Years 100% of the time- the one-handed feature and quality construction can't be beat, and its a great price to boot!

The plum is a great color too- not too flashy, a true, nice looking plum!

     "Great except two things...." 2010-03-01
    By Ciara Stang (south carolina)
I researched alot of strollers before deciding on one. What made up my mind was the color and all the safety features it has like the 5 point harness, padded car seat, adjustable handle and locking wheels. I read all the reviews on this before I bought it and saw that a lady commented on the fact that if you place the carseat in a shopping it will sit high, not quite the case. The car seat has no groove for the shopping cart seat to snap onto it therefore making it extremely unsafe for the car seat to be on the child seat. In fact it shows on a warning lable on the side of the car seat that you should not place it on a shopping cart seat, but instead, inside the basket. So that is one thing I'm bummed out about. Another is the storage basket. It is decent in size but it's only held on to the wire down there by nylon that is strapped around the four corners. So, needless to say if you put too much in the cart the nylon will eventually give and there's no way to fix it. Overall, I do love it and it's a great travel system but if you ask me, the maker could have improved on those two things!

     "This stroller rocks!" 2009-08-06
    By J. Crone (Orlando, FL)
First, let me say that I am a mother of 4 children. My first three were all very close together, so I haven't been in the market for a stroller in a while. However, #4 was a sweet surprise, so I needed to buy pretty much everything all over again. This was difficult simply because I had loved my Graco City Lite set I bought in 2001.

I did lots of research. My main issues are that I can't stand a big huge heavy stroller and I wanted a drink holder. This stroller is perfect - not too heavy at all, yet not an umbrella jobbie. It has a great cup holder, though an oversize drink will not fit. No worries, though, because there is also a tray which can accomodate diffent size items. With 4 kids, I drive an Expedition and with the 3rd row in, there isn't much room left in the way back. The stoller takes up most of the space. But, I can tell you that the full size strollers won't let the door close...and you better be in shape if you're lifting 35+ pounds up into the vehicle each time! The stroller has been great both reclined and now as my son begins to sit. The 5 point harness in the stroller helps hold him in place nicely. Again, the stroller is big enough to hold him, the diaper bag and my stuff, as well as small enough to manuever through stores easily.

The other BIG pro I loved about this set was that the carseat has, hands down, the best infant head support I have seen out there. Most of the carseats come with a ring piece, but this one has thicker padding on each side of the head. The result? No nodding, floppy head on my newborn! Now, there is a negative about the carseat which my husband wants me to mention and that is that the seat does not sit in shopping carts very well (the small part where bigger kids sit). The latching mechanism at the back is in a high spot and when you put the seat in the cart, the seat is leaning way back. I have not found this to be an issue, but it bothers him.

The seat has a very comfortable handle - the wide corners make carrying the chair in the crook of your arm possible and painless. I also love the colors. The pictures don't really show how rich the colors look.

Overall, this stroller has exceeded my expectations and I just wanted anyone checking it out to know how happy I have been with it. I was nervous when I ordered it because there weren't many reviews, but I haven't looked back once with regret on this purchase :)

     "More than expected." 2009-03-03
By Rebecca J Puck (Muscatine, IA United States)
I cannot say enough good things about this stroller. I ordered it 5 weeks early to make sure I would have time to play around with it before our daughter arrived, but she came the day I ordered it, 5 3 days weeks early. We have not been able to use it with her yet, but we are thoroughly impressed with the construction and our favorite part is that the infant seat sits Inside the stroller instead of latching onto the tray like many other brands do.

With me being 5' and the dad being 6'5" the adjustable handle was a surprise, but it will work great for us. And the little handle on the side to help carry the stroller when it is folded is so helpful, along with the "kick stand" support so it will stand on its own when folded. When they say one hand folding, they actually mean it; I can do it while holding the infant carrier in my other hand without any problems. Another nice thing about it is that the tray comes up when folded instead of down like a lot of other systems also, so it won't take a beating. At only 17#'s I was worried about the durability, but again it is one of the best built ones we have seen yet.

The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I haven't been able to use it yet, but I have no doubts that it will be 5 stars once put into action.

This booster seat is wonderful. My granddaughter loves it and does not mind sitting in it for long periods of time.

The safety rating is outstanding. It is easy to use, attractive, and very functional. This is the second one we have bought for our grandchildren and I would highly recommend this to anyone in need of a booster seat.

"Very comfortable according to my 4 year old" 2010-04-08
By Anna Walsur (COLUMBUS, OH USA)
When it came time to replace my daughters car seat with a booster, I did some reasch and look around. As a Britax customer several times over I wanted to stay with that brand. I could not find one that worked for my daughter and our van. So, I came across "The First Years" Compass model. High recommendations, NTSB rated for install and well padded. I gave my daughter the options of the colors available she chose the higher priced one - the cranberry with brown. Upon super fast arrival we inspected the booster. She said "this is comfortable Mamma can we go now". The padding feels nice and the adjusting headrest will grow with us. Overall, a great purchase. I was dissappointed to read that the seat was manufactured in 2008 and can not be used after 2015.

 "Best Booster Available" 2010-04-08
By Carrie (Atlanta, GA USA)
I like this seat so much, I ordered a second one for my husband's vehicle after using the first one in my vehicle for a couple weeks. It has far more substantial cushioning than any other booster we looked at in the stores. It actually has foam cushioning in the seat and back rest. The others were just hard plastic with a cover. They all felt like they would be very uncomfortable. My 34 lb, 40" tall, 3 year old loves it. She has even napped in it, and the wings on the side provide a head rest. I like that the back rest will grow with her until she is tall enough to sit in the seat alone. This should be the last car seats we buy.

Belt positioning boosters are the biggest advancement in child safety in years. Automobile seat belts are designed for children above 57" tall. Safety advocates suggest that your child ride in a booster as long as possible. Most states have enacted legislation to keep children in boosters until ages 6 to 8 years.

But, what it takes to keep an older child content are not the same as a baby. I did some serious research before purchasing this Booster for my two girls, ages 4 & 6. They both LOVE them. Very lightwieght & easy to transfer between cars. Both girls can buckle themselves without any problems. The color is very neutral and isn't too girlie for my husband when he carts the kids around in his "man truck". Dual cup holders are a bonus too- I use one for their snack & a juicebox in the other.

"Do not buy if you ever give your child something to drink in car" 2009-08-21
By C. Ayres (Suffolk, VA USA)
    First the pros:

    1. Nice looking seat

    2. Pretty easy to keep clean

    3. Adjustments are easy and it fits well in a small SUV (I have an Escape)

    4. Does a basic job

    5. Folds up if you're someone who will move it around a lot.

    Cons:

    1. Incredibly lightweight to the point of wondering how much protection it offers.

    2. Does not give any more protection than your car. This seat uses a basic, cross over seatbelt from your car with no additional restraint or way to secure the seat into your car.

    3. Cup holders. Right. They should have just skipped them altogether with how tiny these are. There is one on each side, but they aren't even big enough to hold a standard size water bottle, kid's travel cup or juice box. Who decided this was a good/useful size? Obviously someone without kids...

    4. Expensive for how much you don't get. A lot of boosters go for about half what this one costs. Next time, I'll ignore all the good reviews until I can see one up-close. No more ordering without trying on something like this for me. 8(

I am very happy with the First Years Compass Ultimate Folding Adjustable Booster. I was primarily concerned with safety when I was looking for a booster. I found the adjustability good for properly fitting the seat belt. I initially thought there would be latch attachment, but there was not. I soon realized that the proper fitting seat belt is the security I get in my seat belt. The only difference is that the booster has side head rest. I also like the two cup holders and the arm rests that move up and down.

I can't believe they charge so much money for something of such poor quality . . first years is ripping you off! its super junky quality plastic , seems to be really easy to break, really loud CD opening compartment, everything about it plus what everyone else said. . this should only sell for about 20.00 and i've seen the MSRP all the way up to 60.00!!!!! this is in no way worth that much money by any stretch of the imagination . Of course you gotta check to see if it will even fit on your crib depending on the type of side rails you have. just save your time and buy a regular cd player that has better durability and higher quality, it'll last longer anyway. this is junk.

"Very helpful for bedtime routines" 2009-06-12
By Claire Smith
My husband and I wanted to buy this for our kids to play the lullabye CDs people had given as baby gifts, but we couldn't justify paying $50. I happened to find a used one at a rummage sale for a dollar! Much more reasonable.

PROS: plays any CD; good volume control for a crib (a baby doesn't need surround sound to fall asleep); battery compartment is secured well; "C" batteries are best as rechargeables for something like this, since it's used every day; optional timer and programming buttons are good to customize baby's routine; dim nightlight is just enough for you see where the pacifier fell while you reset the music in the middle of the night without waking baby

CONS: PRICE; CD door takes two hands to open and is noisy; I kind of wish it had a optional wall-mount or desk base for post-crib use

"Waste of money buy a proper cd player" 2009-01-12
By Michelle Van Rozeboom (Long Beach, CA)
We bought this cd player when our little one was about four months old (October 2007 or so)and this thing has had problem all over the place! It skips if you barely even hit it, which is pretty annoying. It's had issues like not playing when you fast forward to another song or stops playing for no reason (batteries were brand new). Finally the thing was acting all strange just before the holidays and then finally just stopped working all together. It would spin the cd but never play anything. So we are going to spend a little more money and just buy a compact table top cd player that will be around a while. Don't waste a cent on this one!

"A very good chair booster seat." 2010-02-06
By Bao T. Mai (Anaheim, CA USA)
We bought this chair booster seat to replace the car seat for our 7 year old son. We also have a regular booster seat but this chair booster seat is surely more comfortable. For one, the seat belt loops inside the side open of the chair and so the belt doesn't rub against the neck. On long distance drive, the headrest allows my son to sleep comfortably by leaning his head on either side of the chair headrest. Another good thing is the seat can be folded for storage and the seat cover can be removed for washing. The only negative thing is that unlike the car seat, this chair doesn't have an opening in the back so that you can anchor the chair to the car back seat anchors. But overall, it was an excellent buy.

The seat is easy to use and made of great quality products. When buckling the seat belt, it is nice to be able to push the armrests up and out of the way. It is easy to travel with because it folds up so small and is very lightweight. My 5 year old son is always excited to use his big boy seat! He really likes its sporty look. The only thing missing, which I knew would be, was having the 5 point harness option. I look forward to having this last me a long time!!!

I have been searching for a narrow booster seat that would fit in my Mercedes C350. The Graco booster was the narrowest I could find and it was still very, very tight. When I pulled out the Compass booster, it was very wide, but the back portion is narrow. It fits perfectly in my car with extra space for buckling! The kids also love them, they are good for napping.

It's light and comfortable, easy to install. So far no complains from my 4 years old daughter.

I had a Compass booster for my first son and love it. I decided to go with this booster for my second son as well. It is built VERY well and not flimsy like some of the Graco boosters. They love the cup holders and the arm rests.

It also folds for easy tote.
