"the best stroller, only if it had more color options" 2009-12-23
By Jonathas Valle (new york, NY)
The orbit is by far the best stroller on the market. Not only for it's superior design-it looks better then any other- but also by it's superior finishing, cushioning, structure and handling. and It's easier to set it up. It does not have the configuration type of going on two wheels for all terrain/beach purposes, like others do, but I find that very unnecessary. In the other hand it is way easier to perform everyday activities like turning the seat to face in any direction, or disassembly for storage. The stroller does cost more then most of it's competitors , but that's compensated by it's greatest advantage; the car seat base. It not only makes unnecessary to buy a extra car seat, saving an extra $200 at least, but also works way better then other seats on the market looking very stylish small and discrete on the car when not in use. It works great and fits in any car. The system comes with the car base, the stroller structure, and the infant car/baby stroller seat, for $900. The bassinet must be purchase separately for $280 and it comes with a attachment that turns it into a rocker chair. It is expensive, but the products are of quality.

The big disadvantage on the orbit system comes on the color choice, as of now it only gives 2 color options -black and mocha- with the promise of a new ruby color for 2010. The company also does not sell fabric sets for replacement . They did release a "green edition" of the bassinet that came in a beautiful off white color made with organic "green" cotton, but that is sold out/not in the market anymore and when it was it costed the bizarre amount of $650- more then double the regular price . I've been looking to get this for my sister that's having the baby and really dreams about it, and believe me, it's impossible to get.

It's not a very customer friendly move of the company to make it so hard for the consumer to make his choice for the stroller color, specially when direct competitors like the bugaboo's offer so many and easy options for fabric color and fabric replacement. This is something that comes at almost no cost to the manufacturer and at great satisfaction to the customer. And to have the option at hand and release it for a limited on and off time for a absurd high price it's a cheap marketing practice, and really careless and aggressive with the customer, specially on this case when the customer is usually a mother going through all the anxieties of having her first baby. The stroller is expensive enough already, it leaves a greedy image to recur to such lame profit tactics.

I would pay the extra money for the "special edition" color -if I could only find it- to please my sister, of course, but not without the feeling of being deceived and deluded by the company, which I believe comes to a greater cost to their brand.

 "Orbit system review" 2009-12-14
By S. Hubbard
This stroller system is absolutely amazing. In my opinion, it far exceeds the other strollers on the market such as the bugaboo and makes life so much easier for traveling and even day-to-day activities. Its very user-friendly. This the only stroller that rotates making it easier on your back for retreiving your child from the car seat out of the back seat. Also, if you are at a restaurant, the child can sit in the stroller and be rotated in the stroller making it convenient to fit next to the table. Both my sister and I own this stroller system and we couldn't be more thrilled. Also, I must comment on the customer service of this company. Orbit baby has incredible customer relations - they are so courteous, respectful, prompt and really care about their customers. Overall, my husband and I are so happy with this product - and we have all of their products: toddler car seat and stroller seat, bassinet, and infant seat. Would recommend to everyone!

"great system for the techy dad" 2009-10-02
By Eric F (Boston, MA)
My daughter was born a preemie so she had to be tested in the car seat for 45 minutes before we could take her home. My daughter, only 5 lbs at the time, passed with flying colors. The nurses at the hospital said my orbit was the first they had ever seen, and mentioned that, with the newborn headrest, it worked great with small babies. My daughter cried for a minute or two then fell asleep for the rest of test with no sign of distress.

Now my daughter is 1 and she loves her orbit, it has grown with her perfectly. We constantly get compliments on our stroller system, it's definitely an eye catcher. My wife and I got the entire system including the bassinet, and the rocker. We love the fact that the bassinet and car seat dock into all parts (stroller, car docking, rocking base). The fact that the seat can rotate in the base is absolutely great! I've used other car seats in the past, and the orbit system is so convenient because you can rotate the car seat to face you to strap the baby in. I take my daughter and the family dog for a walk to the park, if the sun is in her eyes and the sun shade won't block the sun, all I need to do is rotate the seat in the base. You can also pull the stroller right up to a table at a restaurant and rotate the seat to save space or keep the stroller out of the aisles.

The car docking base is so easy to install. I brought my base and car seat to the local police station to have them check out the install and certify correct installation before I brought my daughter home from the hospital. The officer told me that they had heard of this system but had never seen one before. He was astonished to see how easy it was to install and how stabile it seemed. It took him about 5 minutes to read the directions, uninstall the base and then re-install. I've had my brother and my mother both move the base and system to their cars for a day or a weekend and they were both able to install the complete system in minutes.

The customer service is also friendly and very helpful. When I picked up the stroller the rear tire was flat, I just called up customer service and they over nighted me a new tube and pump so I could start using my stroller immediately. There are so many other features to talk about, but not enough time to type it all out. Definitely a great system!

 "NO COMPARISON" 2008-11-11
By J. Rorick
This is the best stroller and carseat combo. So many of my friends warned me about purchasing a carseat stroller combo because of the bulk of most systems, but this is the exception. Not only is the carseat and stroller lightweight but the stroller folds up pretty small and easily fits in my trunk with plenty of room to spare. A busy mom will appreciate the flexible handle of the carseat and ease of the swivel feature when you have you hands full with other kids, groceries, etc.

The only downside is it is long and does require the front seat to be pushed forward making it almost unusable. I have an E class mercedes. But if another adult needs to be in the car they just sit in back, which no one minds sitting with the baby.

I would recommend this seat to everyone. My child loves being in this seat, he hates being in his other carseat in dad's car, making it easy to get him to fall asleep on a car ride! You really can not fully appreciate the system until you use it on a daily basis.

 "This product is amazing!" 2008-08-12
By Katie B. (Missouri)
This stroller system is amazing and we get comments on it everywhere we go. The seat is on a circle so it spins completely around, letting you put the baby easily into the car and turning them securly into the rear facing system. The stroller is great too. It's lightweight and folds up easily. Plus you can face the baby in any direction - towards you or forward OR, for when you are at a restaurant you can pull them right up to the table with you. It's so easy to use and sturdy. Another plus is that the handle is not plastic which makes it easier to carry. It is heavy though but so worth it especially because I feel my baby is really safe in this seat. She's very far down (the sides come up high). Bonus, the sun shade is a great size. There's even a paparrazzi shield that covers the seat completely. And the bag that attaches to the bottom stays out of your way but holds a lot of stuff.

 "Makes a great status symbol :)" 2010-02-27
By W. Fung (Cupertino, CA USA)
Seriously, why else would someone consider paying $900+ for a baby stroller?

It's like buying a $1200 Louis Vuitton Purse.

Does the same thing as a $100 purse, only it's not made of real leather and costs 12x more.

I mean, let's think about this rationally:

1) There are MANY companies out there who've been designing safe, comfortable, LITE, reliable strollers for much much longer than Orbit.

2) Humans, are designed to walk upright after the 1st year or so after birth. Hence, this is a very very short term investment. Unless, you plan on having many many children, I'm not sure what you'll be doing with your $900 stroller after the 1st year. My bet is you'll be selling it on craigslist or ebay for half what you paid. Or you could always re-purpose it to being a super high end shopping cart:)

3) The thing is freakin' HEAVY and a PAIN IN THE ASS to get in and out of your car. I seriously wonder if any employees at Orbit actually have children. Any parent, especially moms, will tell you should have been the first requirement in their product doc.

4) It's really big and doesn't fit easily into the average trunk. Better plan on buying a hummer or range rover to go with your Orbit.

5) How often do you really plan on rotating your baby in the stroller?

6) Do you really need a $900 stroller to feel like you're a loving parent? Your better off putting it towards a college fund and getting a head start.

7) Do you really need a $900 stroller to feel good about yourself?

Of course, there's always the lucky few who just have so much loot they don't know what else to do with it than buy senseless overpriced garbage. My advice to them is to find a charity and donate... a lot. It's better for the heart and the world. Buying this product promotes the wasting of human energy, mind, and spirit. This is just another company trying to cash in on the fact that ppl are most likely to spend "irrationally" when it comes to their children.

 "The Best Out There!!!" 2009-12-16
By cruise101 (Florida)
I have reviewed every single stroller out there. I have spent hours testing and trying out the plethora of strollers that exist today, and the Orbit System is, hands down, the best!! I love the compact one-hand fold feature...just one twist on the bar and the frame simply clicks shut. Wow!!! What's also great is that the frame fits in the trunk of the car (VW Jetta TDI) unlike the "mother-of-bulkiness" a.k.a. Graco Travel System (for example). The paparazzi shield is ingenius! It helps protect against unwanted sun and people who just have the uncontrollable NEED to touch newborn babies, while strolling in the store...if you know what I mean. For my needs, the diaper bag/cargo pod could be bigger and have some compartments added, but for necessities it'll do; today, I use an added diaper backpack and just hang it on one of the handles...no biggie. The 360 degree rotating feature is wonderfully convenient, esp. when I'm going for walks in the neighborhood, with the sun shining in a different direction every time I make a turn around the block; one simple turn and "Presto!" baby is out of the sun! My husband loves the adjustable handles, which have 3 height adjustment options; this stroller is great for tall people. The ride is soooo smooth, requiring only one hand, if needed. There are no unstable wheels. The suspension on the front, I guess, helps a little with shock absorption, but I don't notice that much of a difference when going over a bump. Hey, a bump is a bump. After initially inflating the two rear air-filled tires, I only needed to pump one additional time in the entire 6 months of owning this item. Most importantly, car seat is super safe and comfortable for my little one. I have had now problem with tangled straps. She absolutely loves her Orbit seat! No complaining, she is just smiles and coos, when she goes on her excursions... Over all, I recommend this over any stroller. It is pricey, but think about it. If you plan on having more than one child, you can purchase multiple plastic framed strollers or a safe & sturdy metal frame one, which will last with ALL of the children. P.S.= It has a great resale value! So, you even get some of your money back. All I can say is get this item. You won't regret it. Just get your spiel prepared because you'll get so many people asking about how awesome your stroller is and where you got it :)

"Definitely not worth the $$$" 2009-11-08
By J. Bauer (San Francisco, CA)
I, too, like so many parents out there did my research. And, the net of it is, this stroller is not worth the money AND is impractical.

1) it is heavy and cumbersome which is the LAST thing you want went you are carrying around a wiggly, squirmy, sleeping, etc. baby.

2) it costs and arm and a leg. do yourself and your baby a favor and buy something less expensive (and better) and take the money you saved and put it toward something else.

I eventually went with the basic Graco Snugride carseat and their "snap and go" style stroller. It's easy, relatively light weight, and about 1/5 the price of this silly "system." Also, with all the money you save you can buy another stroller for when baby gets bigger - one that really makes sense - maybe a jogger or a City Mini or a MacLaren, etc.

 "Very Satisfied" 2009-09-30
By Christine Busser
I love this car seat/stroller combo and have gotten so many compliments. My favorite feature is the swival. It makes the car seat really easy to get in the car, simply place it on the base and then rotate into position.

I also like that I can use the seat without the base.

The only negative I have is that the seat is very big. I have a Mazda 3 and fitting the infant seat in the car makes for squishy seating in the front. This does not seem to be an issue with my sister's Honda Accord, so I think it is just an issue if you have a small compact car. Also - it does not fit on an airline seat if the seat in front is reclined.

Overall, I highly recommend this seat. The flexible carry strap, ability to rotate, and the fact that the baby is so deep in the seat makes it a great system.

"I have a lot of different Toddler stroller things and car seats, and this one is not that great" 2010-04-01
    By J. Barker
When my son was born the Orbit was not available. That being said, we purchased the Bugaboo. When it came time for us to purchase a toddler car seat, we purchased the Orbit, as the thought was we travel so much, buying the toddler stroller system would be ideal. So we purchased ANOTHER expensive stroller system. Bugaboo vs Orbit- The Chameleon, although big, I think handles a lot better than the Orbit. It also seems to be made better.

We have a Brittax carseat in my husbands car. I love love love that carseat so much better. The Orbit toddler carseat has not held up well at all. The upholstry looks horrible after 2 years of use, and needs to be replaced, which is going to cost me... yet another $55. It is heavy, and incredibly bulky to travel with. But it does function well at the airport, after you get over the weight of the thing. Going back, I don't think I would have purchased the Orbit knowing what I know now.

Now I'm pregnant again- and feel my "hands are tied" into buying an infant carseat for a whopping $400. I've already spent so much on this thing, I want to get some use out of it. And my stroller has been BARELY used. So it's time to get some good use. I plan on using both stroller systems with my next kiddo.

There are bugs this company has to work out. For a VERY expensive stroller system, you have to function well, not only look cool. I've been told, however, Orbit is great for infants, it's toddlers that it struggles with. So I will be able to see how it handles with a baby. Let's see. But between now and then, I'm going to be spending more money on this crazy stroller system. AWESOME.

"Very pleased with this car seat." 2010-02-21
    By NetChick (Charlotte, NC USA)
Despite what some reviews have said, this does work with the Orbit stroller. It uses the same docking system and works great with the car seat base when rear facing. The docking system allowed me to keep my son rear facing longer because it was so easy to rotate the seat when getting him in and out of the car. I am a huge believer in extended rear facing and love this aspect of the seat. We did end up switching to forward facing because my son is a terrible rider and was crying himself sick. When rear facing I couldn't make sure he wasn't choking and this was creating an unsafe driving condition. Once the seat was switched to forward facing the base is no longer used, instead two side braces are installed on the seat. I have honestly never had a problem with the straps twisting. I always loosen the straps when taking him out and tighten them when putting him into the seat. The cover comes off for cleaning without removing the straps which means that I don't have to remove the seat from the car, this is a life saver. The only issue that I have ever had was a weird issue with cleaning. When my son got sick in the car some of it got into a crevice under the cover and was very difficult to clean. Even with that issue, I am very pleased with this seat.

     "Do not buy this!!!!" 2010-01-16
    By Ben (NY, NY)
My wife and I have nicknamed this car seat Satan. We were very dissapointed after having great luck with the Orbit Infant system. This seat will make you very frustrated as you try to strap your kid in. The straps get very tangled and twisted making it impossible to tighten once he's clipped in. The latch is located between the babies legs - which couldn't be a more inconvenient location. When you put the baby in the seat, he always ends up sitting on it so you have to fish it out and then try to clip in without pinching him. We both end up cursing at Orbit as we try to get him latched in.

As others had stated, we were under the impression that you could use the orbit base with this seat. However, it only works when you have him facing rearward. Once he is big enough to face forward, you can no longer use the orbit base system which is really where the convenience of Orbit products lie.

In addition, this seat weighs a ton and is no impractical for using with the stroller. Skip this seat and buy a dedicated car seat that is easier to use.

This is a great car seat! It is super comfortable and my toddler loves it. The straps are easy to adjust and the set up is pretty easy.

If you have the base, it's very convenient to be able to swivel the seat towards you to load your kid in and out of the car.

The look is cool and modern and the safety records are impeccable!

     "Love this carseat!" 2009-07-21
By Flora (New Rochelle, NY United States)
I think it speaks for itself that when we took this out of the box and put it on the floor, my daughter climbed into the seat all by herself and refused to get out. The seat is very comfortable and deep, so when she falls asleep in it, she can lean her head on the sides of the seat. Yes, it is heavy, but it's a CAR SEAT, not a stroller. We do not (nor do we intend to) move it in and out of the car. Safety is our first priority and this seat seems to fit the bill! (We travel a lot and still haven't found a toddler car seat that is "easy" to fly with.) I like that our daughter (now 18 months) can still sit rear-facing, although we may have to turn her around soon. (We had an Evenflo for my son, which was fine, but nowhere near the quality of the Orbit.) The details on the Orbit are great, too: the velcro holdbacks for the straps so you don't have to dig them out from under your toddler every time, the removable seat pads/cover that make it easy to clean after snacks get out of hand (we love being able to remove just the soiled pieces instead of having to take off the entire cover), and the straps are easy to adjust (just like the infant car seat). Best of all, the rotation on the base has saved us a lot of back pain. If there are any negatives, it would be that the buckle piece between toddler's legs tends to flop down so she sits on it and we have to pull it out from under her and if I leave the seat turned facing the door (when she's not in the car), the top of it partially blocks my view out the back. We haven't tried using this on the stroller, so I can't speak to that, but as a car seat, it's fantastic! I wish they made an adult-sized one!

+ Easy to take in and out of bases, great it your baby travels in other cars

+ Able to move a sleeping child from the car to stroller or house without waking up!

    Disadvantages

    + VERY HEAVY!

+ Not good enough as a stroller to use as both car seat and stroller on vacations, I took both while air traveling

+ Once forward facing, not easy to remove (you can't use the bases anymore)

    + Straps get twisted frequently

I plan on buying a new toddler car seat to move between the nanny's car and husband's car, while keeping the orbit in my own. Other toddler car seats are half the weight and easier to install (forward facing)

Good, solid feel from this carseat. It feels protective and comfortable. Sometimes the straps twist a little, and that is pretty annoying, and the central buckle seems a little close to my boy's crotch. Those are the only downsides. The clips that attach to the car are very functional and easy to attach and detach, which is very important when you need more room in the back and don;t have your kid with you. It is more expensive than others, but this is a very good car seat.
