"I have a lot of different Toddler stroller things and car seats, and this one is not that great" 2010-04-01
    By J. Barker
When my son was born the Orbit was not available. That being said, we purchased the Bugaboo. When it came time for us to purchase a toddler car seat, we purchased the Orbit, as the thought was we travel so much, buying the toddler stroller system would be ideal. So we purchased ANOTHER expensive stroller system. Bugaboo vs Orbit- The Chameleon, although big, I think handles a lot better than the Orbit. It also seems to be made better.

We have a Brittax carseat in my husbands car. I love love love that carseat so much better. The Orbit toddler carseat has not held up well at all. The upholstry looks horrible after 2 years of use, and needs to be replaced, which is going to cost me... yet another $55. It is heavy, and incredibly bulky to travel with. But it does function well at the airport, after you get over the weight of the thing. Going back, I don't think I would have purchased the Orbit knowing what I know now.

Now I'm pregnant again- and feel my "hands are tied" into buying an infant carseat for a whopping $400. I've already spent so much on this thing, I want to get some use out of it. And my stroller has been BARELY used. So it's time to get some good use. I plan on using both stroller systems with my next kiddo.

There are bugs this company has to work out. For a VERY expensive stroller system, you have to function well, not only look cool. I've been told, however, Orbit is great for infants, it's toddlers that it struggles with. So I will be able to see how it handles with a baby. Let's see. But between now and then, I'm going to be spending more money on this crazy stroller system. AWESOME.

"Very pleased with this car seat." 2010-02-21

Despite what some reviews have said, this does work with the Orbit stroller. It uses the same docking system and works great with the car seat base when rear facing. The docking system allowed me to keep my son rear facing longer because it was so easy to rotate the seat when getting him in and out of the car. I am a huge believer in extended rear facing and love this aspect of the seat. We did end up switching to forward facing because my son is a terrible rider and was crying himself sick. When rear facing I couldn't make sure he wasn't choking and this was creating an unsafe driving condition. Once the seat was switched to forward facing the base is no longer used, instead two side braces are installed on the seat. I have honestly never had a problem with the straps twisting. I always loosen the straps when taking him out and tighten them when putting him into the seat. The cover comes off for cleaning without removing the straps which means that I don't have to remove the seat from the car, this is a life saver. The only issue that I have ever had was a weird issue with cleaning. When my son got sick in the car some of it got into a crevice under the cover and was very difficult to clean. Even with that issue, I am very pleased with this seat.

     "Worth your money" 2010-02-01

I do love the Orbit products. I only wish this toddler seat would recline more. My daughter's head always leans forward and she's not sturdy enough to lean back.

     "Do not buy this!!!!" 2010-01-16
    By Ben (NY, NY)
My wife and I have nicknamed this car seat Satan. We were very dissapointed after having great luck with the Orbit Infant system. This seat will make you very frustrated as you try to strap your kid in. The straps get very tangled and twisted making it impossible to tighten once he's clipped in. The latch is located between the babies legs - which couldn't be a more inconvenient location. When you put the baby in the seat, he always ends up sitting on it so you have to fish it out and then try to clip in without pinching him. We both end up cursing at Orbit as we try to get him latched in.

As others had stated, we were under the impression that you could use the orbit base with this seat. However, it only works when you have him facing rearward. Once he is big enough to face forward, you can no longer use the orbit base system which is really where the convenience of Orbit products lie.

In addition, this seat weighs a ton and is no impractical for using with the stroller. Skip this seat and buy a dedicated car seat that is easier to use.

     "Great car seat!" 2009-09-01
    By K. Appel (California)
This is a great car seat! It is super comfortable and my toddler loves it. The straps are easy to adjust and the set up is pretty easy.

If you have the base, it's very convenient to be able to swivel the seat towards you to load your kid in and out of the car.

The look is cool and modern and the safety records are impeccable!
