 "Product Doesn't Fit Description!" 2010-03-03
By P. Suzanne Leguel (New York, NY USA)
I bought this product because I will be travelling with my 10 month old twins soon and I wanted a travel bag to cover the Sit n Stroll Car Seats that I bought through Amazon. We received the product and couldn't get the Sit n Stroll car seats into the bags! I emailed the supplier and after several emails, I was told that the bags should fit the car seats. I told them that they definitely do not and at this point, I just need to return the bags. I don't have time to keep emailing back and forth (as a mother of twins, I have little time to do anything). I asked for the supplier to pay for the shipping so that I could return the item. I was told that they would not pay for it because they are insisting that the bags fit the car seats. I am extremely dissapointed with this company and I would advise anyone to not waste your time and don't buy from them!

We have the sit-n-stroll and will be taking it on a plane in a few months, and we have the sunshade accessory. Does this bag have enough room for the sit-n-stroll if the sunshade is attached? One of the reviewers said it is a tight fit...was the sunshade attached? Thanks!

"Helpful for travel, but cheaply made" 2009-09-22
By Robin Unander (Santa Barbara, CA)
If you are traveling on a plane with this seat (which is the whole purpose of buying the Sit n Stroll) then having a travel bag is really necessary to help protect it. The bag also allows you to store an extra carry-on bag inside on the seat of the Sit n Stroll. The bag is a rather tight fit though over the Sit n Stroll, and if you are in a hurry to put it away so you can board your flight, be careful to not rip the zipper. Take a few extra moments to make sure the bag is properly fitted over the Sit n Stroll, and have patience when you are trying to zip it up before it is properly fit. Otherwise, the zipper will rip... oops. The airplane bag handlers who deal with strollers at the gate were not familiar with the way it looked in the travel bag, so we almost lost it after one flight because the handlers mistook it for regular luggage and not a stroller! But the bag protected the stroller, and kept our extra carry-on bag securely tucked inside. We bought the stroller used, and prior owner used a large garbage bag to protect the stroller on flights. After our experience there's no way in hell we would use a garbage bag to protect the seat. The travel bag has a handle, which was helpful in carrying the stroller after we exited the plane until we were able to get out of the way of the other travelers to set it up and put our baby in it.

The Sit 'n' Stroll bag is essential when you need to leave your stroller for the airline to put in the cargo hold. It protects it plus it comes with a handy strap to carry it.

     "Too many problems." 2010-02-24
By J. Lawry (New York, USA)
I so wanted this product to work. I consulted the reviews here very carefully, and talked to another owner, before buying. But the product ended up just not quite working as intended on a long-haul trip with my 14-month-old son.

First, let's be clear: this product has a very specific target market, as far as I can tell: flyers with young children. It is not a general-purpose stroller: the wheels can't handle anything but the smoothest sidewalks, and forget about steps. Nor is it a good general-purpose carseat: I wouldn't use this in a car as a permanent installation. It is the sort of car-seat that you take traveling because you're going to be in and out of unfamiliar vehicles (such as taxis) and want something that can be used temporarily without full installation. This product is designed to get you to the airport, through check-in and onto the plane, and then off again at the other end, with your child in some comfort and you with the ability to carry your carry-on luggage with a minimum of fuss.

Another potential use we had in mind (we live in New York city without a car) was for taking a taxi, strapping the car seat into the taxi, and then using the stroller wheels at the other end. The problem is that the wheels aren't much use if you'll be covering any distance over non-smooth ground.

    But here the problems start:

    1) The seat doesn't fit in some airline seats. If you can raise the armrest between seats, no problem: I did this in a United economy-plus seat. I am a large man and I could comfortably sit next to the carseat even though it was encroaching an inch on my space, and I had good access to my son during the flight.

However if the armrests are fixed, there is nothing you can do. Air New Zealand Economy Plus has all fixed armrests and the Sit'n'Stroll was too wide: it had to go in the hold. Fortunately I was carrying a CARES harness (kidsflysafe-dot-com) just in case for my son to use, but it was far less comfortable for him. Very few airline seats will be wide enough to take the seat without raising an armrest, except some first class seats: check seatguru-dot-com for exact seat widths before you fly. You need either 19 inches of width or liftable armrests.

    2) The seat won't roll down the aisle in economy. Not even close. This means you have to fold up the wheels and retract the handle, pick it up with your child sitting in it, and carry it over the seatbacks to your seat. Try to picture doing this with your hand-luggage over your shoulder. Not easy. Dads travelling solo get sympathy from other travelers and airline staff, fortunately.

The mechanism for opening the wheels is not very smooth. It works ok once you are used to it. It is very difficult to open the wheels out while the child is sitting in the seat. You need somebody to hold the front of the seat off the ground as you operate it, it's very difficult on your own. The mechanism has a slightly plastic feel, although it's metal, and occasionally the mechanism doesn't lock in position if you don't pay a lot of attention, so you have to be very careful that the wheels aren't about to spontaneously retract themselves. Not quite up to the build quality of the more expensive strollers. One particular annoyance: there are rubber sleeves on the handles which aren't attached in any way and simply fall off. I lost one on the first flight. How hard would it be to glue them on in the factory?

Other people have commented that the extending bars to the handle are unnervingly flexible, and this is marketed as the steering mechanism: this strikes me as a marketer's effort to turn a bug into a feature. It isn't easy to steer the Sit'n'Stroll with one hand, and steering is possible by flexing the bars but you don't feel like you're in control of the stroller. If the surface you're travelling on is not smooth, it's much harder as the wheels are low-quality.

As a seat, it appears very comfortable: my son showed no restlessness in it and could sleep and sit comfortably. The angle of the back is less steep than many car seats, which probably makes it easier to sleep in. The forward-facing belt position across the child's chest is unusually high, and this is one reason I couldn't envisage this as a permanent car-seat. There is no way to run the belt behind the sitting position as in dedicated carseats, it goes across the child's chest. At 14 months but tall (85 cm+), my son really had to have the belt crossing over his upper arms, and he could still feed himself, but I can imagine this working poorly for some kids, either pinning their arms down or holding them uncomfortably high. Rear-facing is also possible although the strap guides are very difficult to use in a hurry compared to a Graco SafeSeat.

So, if you're a frequent flyer, and your child will have a business class or better seat with wide aisles leading there, then this seat may well be the answer to your prayers. If that's you, then the high price won't be an issue, either. If that isn't you, then this seat may solve some problems, but it will probably create others.

One thing I can say: you get admiring glances in the airport when you're pushing your kid along in one of these. Doesn't really make up for the problems however.

"An Immense Help When Traveling" 2010-01-02
By Kristine Lee (San Jose, CA)
The sit 'n stroll has been one of the best purchases we made for simplifying travel with our child. First purchased about a year ago when our daughter was about 13 months we have since used it on 3 trips, a total of 6 flights. The wheel folding mechanism sometimes sticks and has to be jiggled, but overall the product works as it is supposed to, and although the handle feels flimsy, it has held up. On our last flight, we had to ask for seatbelt extenders from the flight attendant, it was no problem. I have traveled with and without the sit 'n stroll with children, and for me, it's worth every penny, especially when just my daughter and I traveled together. No struggling with a stroller and a car seat. Less is more, you know? I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude to the makers of this stroller when we sail past the families struggling with all the accoutrement of traveling with children. Accoutrement!

It's been handy as an extra car seat at home. Our actual car seat is so big that when we have car traveled with friends who also have children in car seats, this has fit where the other car seat was just too wide.

Could be improved. The "storage space" is laughable.

When going through the security line at airports, this does have to be inspected through the x-ray scanner.

     "Very convenient for travel" 2009-12-04
By M. Congdon (Denver, CO USA)
We purchased this since we like to travel. Our first trip was a great success! This car seat was very easy to travel with, especially with all of the opening and closing of the stroller getting on/off the airplane, into & out of the Hertz courtesy shuttle, going through airport security, etc. It literally takes 3 seconds to push/pull the handle bar and the wheel open/close mechanism. The wheels stroll and turn very smoothly and the whole system is not very heavy & cumbersome.

The not-so-convenient steps with using this may apply to all strollers...such as finding the child-seat restraint hooks on the cars (especially the one behind the seat). Also, the belt that goes over our child's lap when she is in the seat needs to be loosened and moved each time we put her in and out of the seat. But this may apply to all child seat designs anyway.

Altogether, this is certainly a valuable purchase for those who like to travel. We HIGHLY recommend it.

     "Needs attachment help..." 2009-08-08
By mom of picky baby (Portland, OR)
I received a sit 'n stroll as a hand me down from a friend when my child was 3 years old. It is a great concept and as a single mom needing extra help when possible, we have taken it on 4 trips but I actually don't feel that safe with it. The issues of our stroller is it has a latch for behind the seat but the tightening mechanism doesn't go tight enough for rental cars with the latch really close to the seat. The other issue is the seat is supposed to be strapped down in the airplane with a lap belt but most airlines lap belts aren't long enough to go over the seat. Out of 5 different airlines, only United (in premium coach) was it long enough to work properly with the chair. I've been jerry-rigging the seat with the seat belt. Then in rental cars, the seat sits low so the child can't see out and we've had some car sickness as a result. The seat belt is once again a pain b/c you use the 5-point harness and then use the seat belt over that which is a hassle to deal with the in/out frequently and isn't comfortable for the child's arms. I see it now has a latch mode which would be a lot more convenient in rental cars but still wouldn't address the shortness of lap belts on the plane. I haven't found the seat to be too big - it is too tight with the armrest down so just move the armrest up...

If you're willing to deal with those issues, it is VERY convenient to have the stroller/car seat altogether and the wheels pop-up and down very easily.

Will be more than 90$.... i don't even know if is legal. So i am not return it in this situation.

Tripleplay 5-in-1 Sit N Stroll Travel becomes convenient with the Sit N Stroll from Tripleplay. It is FAA approved and is the perfect choice when searching for baby travel systems. Flying with a child is very difficult. With a stroller travel system like the Sit N Stroll there is no reason to haul a stroller and car seat through the airport. Use the stroller function and wheel the children the airport and into the automobile. The travel system then converts to an easy to use car seat by using the car's belts. Once the destination has been reached, take out the retractable wheels on the baby travel system and roll the child to its destination. The Tripleplay 5 in 1 is lightweight and simple making it a great choice. The top feature on the Sit N Stroll from Tripleplay is its convertibility. The wheels retract into what acts as a car seat base for easy storage. When the time comes to go from car seat to stroller, no real effort needs to be exerted. The stroller travel system is easy to use for all parents. The travel system also features a height adjustable handle. The 5-In-1 Sit N Stroll becomes one of the most perfect travel systems for any parent.

 "Very Useful" 2010-03-05
By Garth King (Lafayette, La)
My wife and I have a 5 month old, we bought this to avoid bringing a car seat and stroller on trips. We've only been on one trip so far but it worked fairly well. Don't expect all the bells and whistles of a standard stroller, but it gets the job done.

Pros: All in one, weighs the same as our regular car seat, handle extends a good length (i'm 6' 4"), is supposed to fit a range of ages.

Cons: Bulky (i'm not sure if this can fit a standard airline seat although the maker claims it can fit, we checked ours in at the gate), the mechanism to extend the wheels takes getting used to (it must be extended while holding child and seat off ground), our baby's head leans forward when she falls asleep in car seat rare facing mode (seat back is very vertical in this position unlike our regular car seat so we put a towel under the seat to prevent this)

I know the cons list is longer but it really works for what it is designed for, convenience. I wouldn't use this on a daily basis but for travel it's great.

"Wheel assembly & frame not sturdy enough for daily pedestrian use." 2010-02-07
By Mark Tabla (St. George, UT USA)
This stroller feature is be a great idea but not quite rugged enough for daily pedestrian use

As a legally-blind stay-at-home dad without a driver's license, I have found the stroller functionality of this product to be extremely useful in walking back and forth the quarter-mile over paved terrain from my apartment to our local WalMart with my 1-year-old son in tow. It also works fine for my wife as a car seat in our minivan.

But walking home with my Sit and Stroll this last time with groceries and my son was a disaster...

The front-left wheel assembly snapped right in two going over a sidewalk crack just as I was coming out of the store headed for home.

Balancing the stroller on two rear wheels with the front end in the air without dumping my groceries or damaging the frame while traversing sidewalks and crossing streets was a tedious ordeal although my son was in no real danger since we in a relatively quiet suburban area.

I thought I was out $250 but I found a wheel assembly replacement part on Lily Gold's website for $13.90 ($5.95 + $7.95 S&H).

Our Sit and Stroll is definitely worse for wear...

- the frame now leans to one side though it still retracts/extends OK

- the flap under the front of the seat has broken off

- a wheel needs replacement

Recommended only for light stroller use.

 "Should be better." 2009-12-07
By Dachshund Mom (Frisco, TX)
We purchased these for our year-old twin boys. I really really wanted this product to be great, and I was so excited to try it. I thought it would really be an answer to our problems traveling but unfortunately it wasn't. Everyone who's done it knows what a difficult thing it is to bring a car-seated baby on an airplane, in terms of getting it hefted up and over everyone's heads and down the aisle (while you're probably carrying a couple of diaper bag carry-ons as well). In our experience (and we fly American), they do not let us pre-board at all, even with two infants. This seems crazy to me, and it makes it very difficult for my husband and me, each with a car seat and baby in our arms, to get down the jetway and finally seated on the plane.

This stroller is easy to push around the airport - though the handle does seem really flimsy. But there is no storage, and you can't really hang your diaper bags on the handle - you'll need to keep those shouldered. If your adult-to-baby ratio is 1:1 like it is with us (my husband has one baby and I have the other), a rolling suitcase in addition to your sit-n-stroll doesn't really work either.

I was very hopeful that the sit-n-stroll would roll down the aisle of the plane. It won't, not in coach. Not even close. So somehow you have to pick this seat up, which is very unwieldy, very high (and I am very tall) to get over people's heads, with your shoulder bags on, and get to your seat. It's really a stressful experience and we typically wind up feeling somewhat injured - too much strain on our necks, our backs, and bruises on our arms. Getting the wheels to pop out and back isn't TOO difficult, but everything is made somewhat more difficult by the stress of all the travelers around you being unhappy about you bringing your baby aboard in the first place. Oh well. ;-)

Another problem is that this car seat is pretty heavy (compared to the Graco Safe Seat for Infants which is what we used before), even without a child in it. When you add a 20+ pound child, it's really too much for me. I'm 6'1" and my husband is 6'5" and we both did not like using the sit-n-stroll. Our experience was also that the seat is wider than the airplane seat itself, so the parent riding next to the seat will have less space to sit in than normal.

If you do use the car seat in the rear facing mode, the airplane's seatbelt fits at a comfortable level. If you use it in the forward facing manner, though, the plane's seatbelt goes somewhere else (higher up), and it really is in a weird spot. How awkward it is will depend on the height of your child.

For our next trip, we are going back to our former system - the Graco Safe Seat rear-facing (for infants) car seat (the boys are barely within the weight / height range for that seat still) with the Graco frame stroller (folded up and checked at the plane's door) to get it around the airport. That car seat has a handle, so it's easier to heft up over people's heads, and it does not weigh as much. And then we hope that we can graduate to the cares belt on future trips. That's another conversation :-)

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this seat. It just has too many drawbacks, and it is VERY expensive.

"Must have for frequent travellers, but many compromises" 2009-09-03
By Jeffrey Bradford (Rochester, MN)
We've taken this stroller on two trips to Asia, two trips to Europe, and numerous domestic trips, for a total of 30 flights. I can't imagine taking these trips without this stroller, it's been absolutely fantastic for us. On the plane, on the taxi, on the subway, and around town, it makes traveling much easier. Our daughter also seems to find it comfortable, she will climb into it and just sit there. With a bit of practice (and I've had a lot!) it converts between a stroller and a seat in about 3 seconds. The fabric seat covers comes entirely off, which is nice as we can toss it in the washing machine after a trip. [Or when she throws up all over her self in it....] How did people travel without it?

So given that effusive enthusiasm, why only three stars? Because as useful as it has been, it has many limitations, and much room for improvement.

The biggest problem is that as a stroller, it is mediocre at best, primarily due to the wheels being too small. They are suitable only for very smooth ground. Small bumps in the road are problems, grass and dirt roads are questionable, and going over cobblestone or brick roads are near impossible. I realize that due to the need to fold the wheels need to be small, but there sure looks like room to make them bigger. Just 2" bigger would make all the difference.

As a seat, it's better, but not great. As many others have noted, placing it rear-facing is a bit of a challenge. Thanks to all those that suggested placing something under the front (I used a jacket or towel), it really helps. It also needs a level to show when it's flat. Front facing, the place where the belt goes is much too high for our daughter, it basically goes right by her chin. We end up using the rear-facing path much of the time. I realize this is not as safe, as the seat might be able to flip forward in a crash, but it's better than no seat at all. The neck support ("infant bolster") is poorly designed, it forces her neck forward, so when she sleeps much of the time her head is not to the side but rather hanging forward.

To close the seat, you need to hold the seat slanted slightly downwards so the front wheels pivot forwards so they fit in the compartment.

It needs a cup holder. Really really needs one.

The storage mesh bag isn't great. It's worth getting it, but be prepared to be unimpressed. Note that the bottom sides have little elastic loops that attach to the sides of the stroller to keep it in place.

So if you're doing a lot of traveling, I highly recommend this, but be prepared for some frustration and trade-offs.

 "On the go." 2010-02-13

We go to Disney at least once a year and these are life savers for a packed stroller. They fit great in a diaper bag and attach to any handle.

 "Love, love, love!!!" 2010-02-04
By D. Jeong
I have a double stroller that has no cup holders. I am also unable to hang things on the handles of the stroller, so I bought these with hope I can hang light shopping bags or something. Well, my expectations were exceeded. I am able to hang my very heavy diaper bag on one with numerous shopping bags on the other. Before getting these, I would carry my bag, or put stuff in the seat that no one was sitting in. This makes like MUCH easier. Totally recommend. :)

Well made, does not look like cheap plastic hooks I had previously and can take alot of weight without breaking. With 2 hooks I managed to hang my diaper bag, handbag and shopping bags while at the mall with my baby and toddler.

not interested in it at all (my 4mo old that is). Also while it fit my orbit seat it barely fit...comes off easily. Looks better then it is. Also supposed to play two tunes and I could only get it to play one

"Wont go anywhere without it!" 2010-01-09
By Jennifer Long (Oakland, Ca)
my baby girl has always hated the car since she was born. she would scream and scream to the point that I just never left the house. Then I got this toy arch and ever since she doesnt make a peep unless its laughs and giggles while playing with this thing. I like it because I can put it on her stroller, or another car seat when she out grows her infant one. It is musical but its actually kinda nice, not annoying sounds. It was great to watch her figure out that if she pulled the handle, the spinner would spin. That is her favorite. Just took a 8 hour drive from Northern Cali to Southern Cali and couldnt have done it sane without it!

 "real handy" 2010-01-01
By Tabitha Maxwell (Lebanon, TN)
This thing is great! It is way better than those toy bars for the carseat. My 4 month old loves it. He enjoys reaching for the fan handle, and the hanging mirror. It can also bend back and forth so you dont have to remove it when getting your baby in or out of the carseat. I got compliments on this thing the very first day I used it. a must have for all moms!

My 4 month old has a Sit n' Stoll car seat/stroller and it does not have a bar to hang toys from. This toy fits perfect and he is enjoying it so much!

"Fantastic for our 20-hour road trip!" 2010-01-24
By GingerTheBee
I put this on my infant (9mos) son's Christmas list in preparation for our Florida trip in January. It is fantastic. It clips on to the carseat easily, and can also be easily removed. The baby enjoyed having something with which to play. His big brother is front-facing and can watch movies on the road, but the baby is still rear-facing. I will recommend this to everyone I know.

 "Attaches to everything" 2010-01-12
By A. R. Ballard (NY)
My 3 m/o son received this as a gift for Christmas, which was chosen based on its favorable Amazon reviews. We currently have it attached to the diaper changing table on the Pack n Play, and he loves playing with the mirror and pinwheel. It is excellent for places where you cannot place a mobile. The hinges are very flexible, including the last hinge on either side that also bends forward/backward. I like that it is brightly colorful and not gender-specific.

 "great toy" 2010-01-10
By A. Stefan (Sunnyvale,CA)
Great toy for my now 5-months old (got it when she was few weeks old). We attached it to bouncer most of the time and it keeps her entertained so that we can enjoy a meal in peace. One of the few things that she actually plays by herself with. Very versatile, I like the flexible joints that allow different positionings. Also like the color scheme.

 "i love this thing" 2010-01-02
By c mcgill (boston ma)
This arch is fabulous. I can attach it to the bouncy seat, i can attach it to her car seat and i can attach it to her swing. it is incredibly versatile. what wasn't clear to me before i got it is that it has a sort of "ball and socket" joint near where it clamps on. this allows me to bend it closer to my baby or bring it further away, making it even more versatile. My baby is just 3 months old now and is laughing at the little sun and butterfly and is swatting and grabbing at the dangly items.

it is great and a great price. i havent had any problems with the quality and think for the price, even if it only lasted for 6 months i would be pleased. it rules.
