 "bad testing" 2010-03-30
By Allegra Legrande (New York, NY)
I have used this (juice colored) seat for my daughter for the first 6 months. We got it b/c it fit on the Quinny buzz stroller, and thought it would be useful for when she was too tiny for the regular stroller attachment.

It did fit the stroller fine.

In the car, it can be a bit of a pain to get the top part latched into the base, and it never seems to align correctly -- sometimes the straps underneath get in the way, and you can't fit it in right.

And it is *heavy*. It feels awkward carrying it, and I can only make it very short distances.

Based on these, I would have probably given it 3 stars.

However, I just saw that independent "car seat chemical" testing on it (you'll need to look-up the web site yourself) revealed lead in the shade and clip. Bromine is all over it. Antimony is in the seat. And copper is in the shade.

Buyer beware. One star.

"Chic car seat, with some issues." 2010-03-07
By L from Denver (Denver, CO)
Maxi-Cosi is the only brand I have found visually pleasing. I did research this car seat before I bought it for my now three month old. I did not come across the problems I've encountered with it until after I had the issues... 1. The car seat can be very hard to get to click in and sometimes it does take several tries before the seat is firmly in the base. 2. If your baby has a blow out and it gets onto the car seat you should not machine wash it if you have an agitator. You should spot clean any issues or you could have an issue with the fabric (mine looks like it was cut open on the side). 3. Fitting it into the Quinny can be difficult, then once in it looks as though your baby is standing... 4. It is a pretty heavy seat to lug around.

Other than those issues I really do find it to be a safe and fresh car seat. When I buy the front facing car seat it will also be a Maxi-Cosi.

 "Buyer Beware" 2010-02-01
By G. Kwan
Had I written this review when I first started using this I would've given it 5 stars however 9 months in I have this to say. My 9 month old who is small for his age (15 pounds, 27") no longer fits in this seat. The 5 point harness is difficult to latch up compared to the Graco that my friend has. It fits like a puzzle and then holding both pieces together you have to struggle to latch it. It was super convienent to remove from my car and pop into a Zapp stroller frame but I had expected to use this much longer than I did considering how much I paid for it ($169). Very disappointing especially when it states that it can be used up to 22 pounds which my baby is nowhere close to and 29 inches and he still has 2 inches to go. I would love to see someone try to fit a 22 pound 29inch baby into this seat. It would be next to impossible and I would bet money on it.

"Nearly impossible to use the 5-point harness" 2010-01-07
By R. Lyubovitzky (NJ)
The carseat is very pretty but very incomfortable for a child. It is also heavier than Graco model. The straps are really short for the bottom part of the harness and dig painfully into infants thighs. Our daughter cannot have her warm winter gear on and have the bottom clasps close. Not very helpful in winter. The bottom clasps need to be held with both hands in order to be fitted into the buckle. Not very handy for the perpetually hand-short parents. Additionally, the release button on the base sometimes gets stuck in the close position and then the top cannot click into place. They've sent everyone a sticker to let know that the release button has to be pulled again a few times when placing the top on the base. I guess enough people complained. Will be returning this one.
