The Beco Butterfly Baby Carrier combines great ergonomics, excellent weight distribution and stylish design. Every piece is handmade from top quality designer fabric and heavy duty webbing and buckles, and can be used with children from newborns to toddlers in front and back carries. The innovative internal sling enables you to securely buckle your baby into the carrier, then handle Baby + Carrier as a single unit. You can put your baby on your back very easily, just like putting on a backpack! The Beco Butterflys removable infant insert for newborns allows your little baby under 15 pounds to ride higher in the carrier in an ergonomically comfortable position. When your baby outgrows the need for the newborn insert, you simply place her into the main Y shaped internal sling attached to the carrier's shoulder straps, which improves the distribution of the baby's weight and enables parents to pass baby from one wearer to another without taking the baby out of the carrier. The inside panel acts as a safety harness and prevents baby from slipping down or falling out of the carrier. 1) Child can be worn on front or back and easily shifted from one to the other. 2) Tall, tapered carrier body provides lots of upper body support for your baby or toddler, holds baby close to your body for greater comfort. 3) A Sternum (chest) strap is connected to the shoulder straps and slides along their length. 4) Padded waistband is firm and supportive while maintaining a slim profile. 5) High quality designer fabrics are smooth, stylish, and comfortable against the skin.6) Padded leg holes prevent chafing of little thighs. 7) User waist range fits 25 to 50 inches (63 to127cm). 8) User height range fits from 4'9" to 6'2" (144cm to 188cm). 9) Recommended care: wash on gentle cycle in cold water with a mild detergent. Hang to dry overnight in well ventilated area. Spot clean when needed. Care instructions are sewn to the carrier on the product label, so you always have them handy.

"Love it, love it, love it!" 2010-03-23
By Kathy L. Blevins
This is the best carrier I've ever used! I bought it for my 4th child and it is the most comfortable carrier I have. And it's beautiful! I get so many compliments. I also love that I don't have to take my daughter out of the carrier in order to put her on my back, thanks to the bit of fabric between me and her. I've even turned her from back to front while she was asleep, and she didn't wake up. I tried the Ergo, but found the Beco to be much more comfortable and convenient for putting her on my back. Even my friends who have Ergos wish they had my Beco.

"Comfy and easy to use" 2010-03-05
By M. Febbo (Philadelphia, PA)
My son is very heavy and wants to be carried all the time! The beco is comfortable and I can put him in it in about 10 seconds. It's a little pricey, but worth it. The straps are kind of annoying at first, but after a few tries, I figured out the right position and they seem to give a lot of support. At first, I had it too loose and my son was fussy. I have the bjorn and the straps were digging into my stomach. And my back hurt too. I also have the moby which was great when he was very little, but it would take a while to get on and I had to keep readjusting it. My son also started to get really squirmy in it. I have the peanut shell sling, but he doesn't like being carried that way. It's also pretty thin so it doesn't make us as hot as the bjorn or moby. That said, I think you will feel warm with your baby in any carrier! I hope you enjoy your beco as much as I do!

 "Highly suggest!" 2010-01-17
By D. Kubitz (Seattle, WA USA)
Let me start this off by saying that I have tried just about every carrier out there. Snugli, Hotsling, Hip Hammock, mai-tais and various other slings and carriers. By the time my son was 1 and I still hadn't found one I liked I had almost given up on baby wearing. I'm a larger girl with a big bust and bad back. Nothing was comfortable for me. I borrowed a friends Ergo and for me it was still uncomfortable. I also didn't like that I had to use the waist extender. But as far as carriers go it worked out the best for me. Until I did some online searching. I found the butterfly and read about it. There were so many great features. One of my favorite is that I could take my son off of me and transfer him to my partner without taking him out. I also felt MUCH safer putting him on my back with the Beco instead of the Ergo. But that's just me. The biggest selling point for me was that it came with everything whereas with the Ergo you had to buy the extras.

Now I have a 6 week old and haven't used any carrier but this one. I love it so much!

""Baby Bargains" readers BEWARE - this is NOT a forward facing front carrier!" 2010-01-12
By J. Lindamood
I gave this product 3 stars because it seems like a nice enough product, but I don't see what distinguishes it from the less expensive Ergo Carrier, except fashion. I bought it because I made the mistake of believing the book "Baby Bargains" when it specifically said that what distinguishes it from the Ergo Carrier is the fact that it can be used in the forward facing position. However, this is not true! And I foolishly didn't do my homework. I am not impressed enough by fashion to spend a few dozen extra bucks on the Beco Baby Carrier.

"Not as comfortable for infants over 15lbs" 2010-01-04
By BaltimoreMom (Baltimore, MD)
I bought a beautiful Becco hoping that it would replace my bulkier Ergo for the summer months. In addition, the infant insert seemed intriguing to me. Unfortunately, I didn't find the Becco to be as comfortable as my Ergo---which was sad because it really is beautiful. I found that once your infant becomes a little larger, the infant insert actually causes more strain on your shoulders. The extra panel limits how low you can rest the waist band on your hips. I'm only 5 ft 2 in, and found to make the shoulder straps comfy, I had to put the waist band slightly below my belly button instead of on my hips, so baby's weight was not on my hips as I prefer. Plus, I found that trying to mount baby on my back already in the carrier/insert and swinging her on my back was really unstable and unsafe. It's actually much more secure to put baby on your back and flip the carrier over her and not vice versa...imagine swinging a 25lb squirmy backpack on your back while trying to keep it totally upright...once you get one arm through and baby is hanging, it's really hard to get the other strap on! One other alternative to the Ergo is the Boba carrier. I don't have it, but is lighter weight and has a higher back than the Ergo...the two main features that are relative negatives of the Ergo. For now, I'm sticking with my tried and true Ergo...still using daily.
