Well, I researched and researched, and looked forward to this toy. We had to replace our son's crib toy as the machinery became noisy, and settled with this one for our second child. I love the sounds and the bubbles and fish are captivating. One problem - this thing is too darn BRIGHT! I wish the light could be turned down to a softer glow. When I put this on, my child's eyes are like saucers! Back to the drawing board! It is also not sound activated which is a shame too.

Whenever I have a baby shower to go to or a new grandchild on its way, I buy the Fisher-Price Aquarium Crib toy. My daughter sent one to her first Nephew when he was born and that has been handed down to three other children in the same family. The kids can turn it on and off with their feet when they are still infants, and they love the lights and the music.

We own two different aquariums from FP, but they have very similar functionalities. We had get one a second one for the daycare crib . We love this one because it comes with a remote control. It doesn't look impressive until you turn it on. Minicoop was very mesmerized by the moving algae, lights, fish, and music. The music volume has mulitple levels and it's very soothing. The light is a bit on the bright side, but you can simply avoid it by not putting the baby too close to the aquarium. When she was an infant she would stare at this every night before she would fall asleep. Minicoop is 18 months now and she still likes to listen to this on a regular basis. The funny thing is, she is now old enough to know how to push it on and off herself! The most precious thing is when we first witnessed her sitting up and pushing the button for the first time!

We must have bought a defective one because I'll tell you, this thing was a problem from the get go. The movement of the fish and plants caused a very loud and annoying clicking sound and replacing the batteries is a pain. Despite all this we kept it for the music and now 7 months later, the water has evaporated so the fish looks as if it's swimming in a shallow pond. If you're a busy mom who doesn't have time to hunt down your sales reciepts and drive all the way back to the store to return things, don't buy one of these.

I've had this since before my 4 month old was born and just a week ago figured out it plays other music! I thought it only played Pachelbel's canon.
This entertains my son for short periods when he is in his crib. It's soft, comforting light soothes him when he's in a bad, cranky mood so that is invaluble. (Although he won't fall asleep to it-- too bright).
It is difficult to change the battery and to get on and off the crib, but we don't move it much.
When we had it on his playpen, it used to go on all by itself (I guess the light from the digital clock in the living room actived the remote sensor?) and we had to cover it with a towel at night. Since we moved it into his room we haven't had that problem (and thank goodness, because it'd wake him up otherwise!)
The toy is so charming and cute.
