 "Difficult to unclip" 2010-03-28
By bDeMille (Colorado)
I ordered a replacement chest clip for my Graco Nautilus booster seat but didn't like it.

I ordered a replacement because I was having some difficulty opening the clip. Under normal circumstances it's just annoying that it didn't open immediately, but I realized if I were in an emergency and needed to get my daughter out in a hurry, something that is just a little difficult under normal circumstances would turn into a real problem under panic conditions.

To explain why I found this difficult to open, try to follow my description of how it unlocks. Looking at the picture, see the right side of the clip. This is a hollow area inside into which fit two "legs" of the clip. Each leg has a hook on it. When they are inside that right housing side, the legs expand, up and down, and latch onto to areas that makes them secure.

To unlock, you have to squeeze the two button, top and bottom together. This squeeze compressed the legs together inside that housing and they are freed from the latching areas inside and the left and right pieces can be freed.

That would be OK, but in this case the housing area is pretty slim meaning that you have to compress the legs all the way together until the legs are touching and pushed hard together. When you do this, the width of the legs is BARELY slim enough to pass through the hole to allow the legs to come free of the housing part and unclip. So if you're not pushing hard together, the legs/hooks won't come free of the housing.

Also be aware the the buttons on top and bottom are not as pictured here. The are smooth, probably some new sleeker design. They don't have bumps on them as in the picture. So this prevents a good squeeze by your thumb and finger since they are sliding off when you push hard.

Additionally, there is some play inside that housing so if you are not pulling directly away from each other, perhaps pulling a bit up or down while trying to separate, the hooks/legs inside will catch onto the top or bottom of the housing and you will have be squeezing and pulling two, three or four times to get the pieces separated.

I think the fact that even when the legs are compressed together there is barely enough room for the legs to escape from the housing is a major design flaw, and bugged me to no end, as I said, having to pull two or three times each time my daughter got out of the car.

I didn't want to modify this clip in any way of course, and I didn't want to buy another manufacturer's chest clip since they expressly tell you not to mix and match manufacturer's parts. I did, however, find a "Universal Chest Clip" by Sunshine Kids called "Lock Tite" Universal Harness Clip also available from Amazon also. That one works easily and PERFECTLY every time, like all the other kids products we have.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it here. Maybe it's me, but all the other kids safety clips seem to work easily for me and this one stands out as being unusually difficult and possibly dangerous if you need to evacuate in an emergency.

You'll be pleased with the operation of the Lock Tite one unless you really want a difficult to open clip since your child has learned to open the one you have.

 "Fits other seats, too" 2010-01-25
By jodimcjodi (Seattle, WA)
I know Graco won't admit it, but this fits other brands of carseats. Our Britax Marathon chest clip needed to be replaced, but their replacement parts are not cheap and don't arrive quickly. Granted, this is not the same color as the Britax one, but it works and that's all that matters.

 "Nice replacement" 2009-12-28
By Jem (Riverside County, CA USA)
I bought this harness as a replacement for my baby's carseat after a visit from grandma's dog who chewed through the original. The harness is a pefect match technically, however, the original one was a tan color and the replacements only come in grey. Fortunately, it matches the latch for the shoulder straps so it does not look out of place. Other than that it is a perfect replacement.

"helpful for little hands to learn how to hold a bottle" 2009-05-28
By diane page (new york city)
These do just as promised, and we started using them at three months when we switched to bottles exclusively. The first day we used them our girl clutched on with a little help, and through one year she would play with them and hold on while eating. Better than a smooth bottle to learn how to grab on. We have since bought the "training cup" or whatever it's called from Avent, and I was happy to see that these handles transition to the cup, too. It's always nice when a product has a longer life, especially when it's for babies!

 "Okay" 2009-02-06
By B. M. Lackey (USA)
They are a great product if your child takes to the trainer set, other wise, inquisitive children get distracted by them, specially because of the color choices instead of making them clear or white.

"Easier For Baby To Hold Bottle" 2009-01-15
By J. Crowe (Yukon, OK)
Our baby was getting to the point he was trying to hold the bottle, but his hands kept slipping off. We ended up getting these to attach to the Avent bottles we have been using. Although he hasn't got the hang of tilting the bottle up, he is now grasping onto the bottle very well. I also love how Avent's line of bottles is so interchangeable (i.e. being able to do things such as add these handles to plain old normal Avent bottles).

Customer Buzz
 "Great" 2008-08-04
By T. Clester (Oceanside, CA)
My daughter started holding her own bottle immediately when I added the handles. It was much easier for her little hands to grip the handles instead of the bigger bottle. I definitely recommend this product to others!!

my daughter started holding her own bottle at 4 months, but she wouldn't drink from the bottle...these handles make holding the bottles easier, and she'll drink from them a little bit with the no-spill sippy spouts.

 "clear reflection mirror" 2010-03-19
By E. Gerschutz (Weston, OH United States)
the first thing i noticed when i received this was that the mirror was actually large enough and of high enough quality that you could see yourself. we tried it in the car, but couldn't get it adjusted right -- so i hung it on the wall by the changing table so baby can look right into it while i change him. i used a removable 3M wall hook (which are a miracle if there ever was one). the monkey itself has a pleasant look and is soft.

 "Like!" 2009-11-22
By DVIII (SD, CA)
First baby view mirror I have bought, but after reading the reviews I decided to buy. I have had it for one day, and have installed it in my Prius. After a few attempts to fine tune the viewing angles so I could see the road behind me and my baby I found a good position.

It secures well to the headrest, but I like that there are multiple ways to secure the mirror.

The actual mirror surface is big and the mirror is convex. My 4 day old does look small in the mirror but I can see if she is awake or sleeping.

Night time the mirror is useless unless I turn on the rear light, but that is not really necessary.

The mirror is cute, fits well, has a method of adjusting the angle, and I can see my child. Therefor I am happy with this purchase.

If it magnified it may be better...

"probably the best seat protector" 2010-02-21
By Robin M (CA, United States)
I have 4 of these, they really protect the leather seats in my cars, the base is quite thick and stiff so resists indenting the seat that it is placed on. Also they catch most of the debris the children throw about. I think this is the best type of the ones I have seen.

"Bottom half ok, top half needs traction" 2009-10-02
By M. Johnson
The bottom half of this product, that is the portion that rests on the seat itself, works just fine. However, the part that is supposed to protect the seat back does not have any traction. My 3-year-old son's car seat would move from side to side when I turned my vehicle, because the car seat was not gripping the back of the seat properly. Consequently, I have stopped using the top half of this product (the halves are detachable). This product also comes with a warning that it may cause discoloration to your seat if the car is exposed to high temperatures. Of course, the company disclaims liability for this, so be careful. We live in Houston where the temperatures can be in excess of 100 degrees in the summer, and I have not noticed any such discoloration in either of our cars which have tan and gray leather upholstery. Overall, I give this product an average-to-below-average rating. If protecting your upholstery is very important to you, you might give it a try, however I suggest trying to make your own upholstery protector first out of something like cupboard-liner material.

"Protects bottom of the leather seat well" 2009-09-16
By A. Shafer (San Juan Islands, WA)
I use this padded protector in my car (Volvo XC90) under Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite car seats. Works really well - car seats don't slide, they leave no indentation marks on the bottoms of leather seats however the back is not tall enough and there are two indentation marks in the leather seat. I wish someone invented a seat protector for a 3 point safety car seat.

 "Exactly what I wanted" 2009-07-23
By Gramma Sally (Minneapolis, MN USA)
When I got a new car, I was concerned that my grandson's car seat would dent the leather. After reading reviews, I chose this seat protector and I'm very happy with it. It took 15 seconds to install and it fits my Accord perfectly. It's sturdy and nice looking. When I checked under it after several weeks of use, I found no marks at all on my car seats.

"Not good for leather seats." 2009-12-05
By C. Welty (Houston, TX USA)
I bought this to protect my leather seats. Unfortunately this product made my child's carseat slide around. Very unsafe. This product is very hard and doesn't conform to the seats at all. So unless you have flat non-leather seats, I would not recommend that you buy this.

Customer Buzz
"I would recommend this product..." 2009-10-25
By Hot Momma
I've read a lot of mixed reviews about these seat saver types of things and keep hearing they are not safe. I value the life of my unborn child above all else, but I also value the condition of my vehicle I've worked so hard to maintain. I figured I'd give it a shot and see what happens with the safety inspection.

I installed this seat saver in a 2003 Infiniti QX4 using the LATCH system with a Graco Snugride 32. We have leather seats in the vehicle. My husband was able to get a very tight fit with the LATCH system and we have less than 1" of movement. I then took the installation to the local police station to have it inspected. He said "We normally recommend against this type of thing, but I have no problem with this installation. The reason is that #1 there is little to no movement and #2 both the top and the bottom are made of a non-skid surface." He said in the past that a lot of seat savers were hard, slippery plastic on top and that was not safe.

The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the bottom part isn't quite wide enough for our seats. If you put the lip all the way to the crease of the seat, the part that is supposed to fold down just sticks straight out. I'm hoping over time it will settle down.

"Will even use it in the loaner car!" 2009-10-12
By SierraSarah (San Diego, California United States)
We absolutely love this seat saver. It is super easy to use with the Graco SnugRide, then the Britax Marathon seats. Works great with the LATCH system. It not only protects the leather seats from indents from the carseats, but also catches the raisins, cheerios, beads, water, and other things that fall off the side of the chair. This is especially useful when you need to move the carseat to the trunk quickly to make room for big people.

 "Good Quality Seat Protectors" 2009-11-09
By Happy Dad (Long Grove, IL)
I recommend this product for several reasons: 1. They are wide enough to to provide coverage on both sides of the car seat, preventing spills, etc. from leaking onto the seat underneath (although locating the seat belt latches can be more difficult, unless you have extenders). 2. They are well-made, with a leather-like appearance and sure-grip texture on the bottom to limit the protector from moving around on the seat, unlike the towels I used previously. 3. They clean-up pretty easily with soap and water.

 "2 Stage Seat Saver-Color?" 2009-03-07
By L. Burchett (South Carolina, USA)
This is a great product. It does not slide around on your seat. It doesn't allow for damage to your seat as well. The only thing that I could say that way a negative-is the color. We ordered tan seat savers. They are tan but it is kind of a weird shade of tan. It almost looks gray under some lighting conditions and then a grayish tan in others. I also ordered the gray on for my truck and it matched perfectly to my interior. So I know that it wasn't a mix up at the factory-placing a gray seat saver in a boxed marked tan.
