After surviving a high speed rear end hit from behind while were were stopped in traffic on the highway, I felt good knowing that my children (10 mo. and two) were in nice, solid car seats. They were uninjured and the next day I ordered the exact same car seats again.
My husband and I also took these cross country via airplane twice and although they weren't the lightest to carry, I again felt good that they were made of tough metal inside and not just cheap plastic. The folding feature is very helpful for travel.

The Radian seats are great seats in general, but the main reason to buy one is that they are very, very narrow. Note in the picture that they lack the typical "wing" that most car seats have. If you have ever tried to put three carseats across the back seat of any vehicle, you'll have cursed the design of those wide flaring wings that the Britax and Evenflo are famous for. You can easily fit 3 Radians across in most back seats, although it will be tight getting the belts secured at installation. They'll fit three-across, AND they don't stick out from the seat so the poor kids feet hit the back of the front seat. The quick release latches for securing it to the car's seat rings are really nice since there is a button to release it rather than the typical caribiner-style clip. By far, the biggest drawback of the Radians is probably what makes them very safe and durable seats- they are unbelievably heavy. This is not a good choice if you are going to be moving the seat in and out of the car a lot. Yes, they fold and can be used on a plane, but I cannot imagine carrying more than one of these anchors through an airport. If you only have one kid, buy a cheaper seat. If you have a small car for 2 kids, or any vehicle with 3, this is your seat. I actually own 6 of them for the three babies in two different cars. Very expensive, but cheaper than a van.

Have 2 Maxi-Cosi seats that have worked great for the past 2 years with our daughter. Have one in the back seat of my truck and one in the back seat of my wife's car. Have another baby one on the way and cannot fit 2 large car seats, a large dog, and my wife and I for family trips in a normal vehicle. Bought this car seat to try out in my extended cab F150. I have a bench seat in the front and have this car seat in the middle. No air bag to disable in the front middle seat and my daughter loves that she can see out the window. With this arrangement we can all fit comfortably in my truck for family trips. Not sure if this will help in my wife's car as she has a console in the front seat.
The seat has worked great for a couple of months now. The only valid complaint I've read is about the weight, the package show a lady casually carrying this thing around. I'm 6'2" and about 225lb and would not want to carry this thing very far (like through an airport). It usually stays put in the truck so this is not a problem for us.

I've had this seat for several years. It's a reasonably good seat. However, there are several issues worth mentioning. It does fold flat, which sounds great in theory. The problem is that the seat is so heavy that schlepping it through an airport is truly unpleasant. I've also found it very difficult to weave an airplane seatbelt behind the seat in order to secure it (complicated of course by everyone else trying to board the plane around you). It almost negates any benefit provided by the ability to fold. I've also had trouble securing the seat with lap and shoulder belts in an older Honda Accord that doesn't have LATCH. Securing it in our newer car with LATCH worked fine. On the plus side, this seat is pretty narrow and low profile, which may help in smaller cars. It's also tall enough to fit older children. The bottom line: if you think the folding feature makes this a good portable seat, look at one in person to determine if the weight will be an issue.

This carseat is great! I bought it b/c it was a "skinnier" carseat and I have a honda civic and have a 6 yr old who needs to be in a booster seat (new law just passed) and 3 yr old and a 5 month old, both in car seats. I didn't want to buy a new car so I opted to buy new carseats, which was the cheaper option obviously. My son loves the carseat, he fits perfectly in it and will take naps in it no problem if we go on longer drives. It is very sturdy and seems like it would do well in an accident- you can tell it's not cheaply made. However it is a little on the heavy side but I'm ok with that since I won't be taking the car seat in and out of the car. Overall the best skinny carseat I've found!
