Our kid's both have these now and they work great. Very high safety rating makes Mom and I feel good, they are easy to use and look pretty nice too.

We've had our Marathon now for 2 years. We hate it, sadly. My daughter is tall and chunky and we've had problems since day one with pinching her thighs while buckling her in. The design is very poor for tall kids with chubby thighs.
She's now 2 and has to widely spread her legs so we don't pinch her and then when she is sitting, the sides of the buckle dig into her thighs. She's 40" at 2 years, but the thigh pinching has been an ongoing problem. She's now anxious about getting into the car seat and cries--it's awful (and we are always soooooo careful to not let the seat pinch her, but the digging hurts just as bad and she anticipates it).
We are now looking for a new car seat because the Marathon is much too uncomfortable for our giantess.
So if you expect your child to be tall and if they aren't stick thin, this is NOT the car seat for you. Look at the Diplomat which, I understand, has an adjustable buckle. Other than that, we're now looking at the Radian products.

WE bought this carseat because with our research, it was one of the best brands/models available. I was pleased to find this pattern at a lower price than the others, and since we didn't really care, we got it at a great price. The seat fits in our Subaru Outback just great and we've had no problems whatsoever.

The best review I can give these Marathon seats is that my toddlers never complain when riding in them. Both the boy and girl enjoy their seat and have sat in them for many drives, long and short. I love the fact that I can easily move the seats around using the easy latch release (just press the button!) and I can also install the seats using seat belts when the latch system isn't available. If I had to pick a negative I would have to argue that the seats are very bulky. You cannot put three on a row of seats, you can barely fit two Marathons and a skinny person on a row in a Honda Odyssey. But this also means your kiddos have room to kinda spread out and I would have to think that the bulk helps during an impact which I hope I will never have to test.
