I bought this seat because my 5 month old grew much faster than expected and I needed a seat that will stay rear facing for as long as possible. As far as I know this is the only seat that goes up to 45 lbs for the rear facing position. Most seats go only up to 35 lbs.
The seat is heavy (as a lot of reviews point out), but I'm not planning on carrying it around.
The build looks solid and my baby is very comfortable in the chair. The one thing that I don't like is the fact that all the belt and buckles are hanging and jingling from the back of the seat. I know that all that "stuff" is needed for the different install positions and options, but it looks real messy and I wish they made it more elegant and put together.
Also, a note to those that are planning to use the seat from day one. My baby was about 21 lbs/ 28 1/2 inches when we go the seat and when I strap her in and try to tighten, I have a little bit of trouble with the straps. I have figured out that the buckle that connects the two shoulder straps in the back gets stuck between the baby seat and the car's seat. I can still tighten the straps properly with a little push on the buckle. However, I don't know if this would be possible if you start with your brand new baby that is around 7-8 lbs.
As far as the fit of the seat in smaller cars... I drive a 2002 Saturn SL. It is a fairly small car, with a small back seat. I am able to have the seat in the rear face position in the middle of my back seat. I had to straighten the back of my seat, but I didn't have to move it closer to the wheel. It's good enough for me.

My 5 year old is petite and still weighs less that 40 lbs. A booster seat does NOT position her safely. A trial fitting had the booster seat shoulder strap across the base of her neck, a very unsafe positon and a booster seat would not provide the impact protection of this 5 point harness which holds her securely in her seat. A child can't squirm and pull the shoulder strap behind her back like so many children do in booster seats. Fortunately, this seat is very comfortable, so my child was able to play with books and toys on a recent 6 hour road trip without complaining. We travel by air several times throughout the year, so it is convenient to carry the folded car seat with shoulder straps in the airport.
My current car is older and does not have latch, but this car seat was tested with and without latch installation. It was easy to install the seat securely with my car's seat belt system and when we purchase a new car with latch or visit family, we can quickly install her car seat with latch and use it safely up to 80 lbs.
I love it, but most importantly, my child does too!

It was not easy to install the first time, but it will be from now on if it needs to be moved. It is narrow enough to fit in my Jetta and still allow room for two adults to sit comfortably in the back seat. It is tight on leg space for the front passenger when rear-facing, but not impossible. Baby loves being able to see out of the window better. She sleeps much better in the car now, as I suspect she is far more comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone.

Not only is this a safe chair but it's easy to install, it has all the bells a whistles that a car seat should have and my daughter is super cozy is the comfy plush seat. I would reccomend this seat to anyone. I bought this product because it was reccomended and had a very low VOC emmissions rating. GREAT CAR SEAT! Not sure I would put my infant in it though, I started my daughter in it at 4 mths old.

Ok, I love this seat. I started out by buying one to use and see how I liked it. Come to find out I loved it...and went and bought a second! We have two kids and another on the way. We opted to put our 17m old RF behind the driver and our 3.5yr old FF on our plus one seat in the Honda Odyssey. This means that when #3 arrives he will comfortably fit RF behind the passenger allowing us to not have to toss a kid in the 3rd row and maintain good storage in our car. They fit so nicely. They are so easy to install. The kids are comfortable. And we got a GREAT deal on them at [...] coupon code KIDS20 is 20% off! I only paid 239!
I just sold our Britax Frontier (a pain in the neck to install using a lap belt) and are putting our Britax Boulevard as a spare in another car. I'm so glad we've made the switch from Britax to Sunshine Kids. You definitely will be happy to have these additions in your car...and your kids will be thrilled;)
Downside...a little heavy and this doesn't turn into a booster like the Frontier...but really, at 80 pounds harnessed we'll look at our options when they meet that weight limit!!
