This is a great seat. My daughter often falls asleep in the car and the reclining feature is fantastic! I'm going to get another one for my youngest when she is old enough for this car seat.

I purchased two Maxi Cosi Prioris in early 2008, one being this Gypsy color and the other being the color called "Tan Tech". I too was wooed by the cuteness factor, and selected my respected colors based on them matching with my car interiors. While I felt that the seats were easy to install and use, the poor quality of the Gypsy cover means that I cannot use it for my 2nd child. I still have over 3.5 years until the seat expires, yet the orange cotton fabric on the sides has degraded from the SUN to the point that it is completely coming apart at the seams. Why they would use such cheap fabric on a $200 (at the time) car seat is beyond me. It is not like sunlight in the back of a car shining on a rear-facing carseat is not forseeable, but this fabric faded completely within months, and started falling apart after about a year. I called customer service thinking that they would at least replace the cover because it clearly is made with inferior materials and shoddy workmanship (which should be under warranty for LIFE), but they informed me that there is only a 1 year warranty on the seat and that I could purchase a new cover for $42. Since I had to shell out anyway, I did at least purchase a different color, another Tan Tech, since that cover doesn't contain the dreaded cotton panels and has hold up well. BOO Maxi Cosi, when it is time to purchase more seats for my children I will never look your way again.

This is a great car seat, its quite stylish - love the variety of colours it comes in. My daughter loves to sit in it! It's easy to strap her in. We started her off with the Maxi Cosi Mico car seat for infants and the buckle system wasn't the easiest for Daddy's big fingers. This one has the metal clips that lock into the buckle. It's also pretty easy to install into the car. We also find the seat cover to be so much cooler than our previous infant seat which had a sweater material on it which made it super soft but it held her body heat so much she would sweat like a pig.
I love the fact that it has four (4) positions that you can set it on. So far I have it inclined completely as she tends to fall asleep alot in the car and I like her to be comfortable. Overall I think it was a great buy and I would (and have) recommend it to parents.

We got this car seat to replace our Graco Safe Seat at our son's first birthday. Upon installation (yes, the instructions could be clearer, but an extra minute had everything in its place), I was instantly pleased because even rear-facing, it was three inches shorter than the Safe Seat, allowing us to reclaim some leg-room in front. It was also much more secure due to a better latch system, which was also makes installation and removal easier. My son was happy because it puts him higher and better able to see out, and overall, he seems comfortable.
Upon using it for a while, I discovered the issues. First, the seatbelt fabric is less rigid than our last car seat, enabling it to twist very easily.....and I mean VERY easily. Unfortunately, though it is not easy or quick to correct. Second, the release at the bottom is very stubborn. It is one button to release both sides but you have to press it on either edge of the button for both sides to actually come out, and pressing gently is not an option. It is only mildly annoying when your child is awake, but wrestling with it to release a sleeping baby will cause frustration.
Finally, if I pay $200 for a car seat, I expect it to be well constructed and last more than ten weeks. A few mornings ago, my son lost his breakfast in the car, so I had to wash the seat's cover. I will credit Maxi-Cosi with making a seat that is easier to take apart for washing than Graco, but my Graco seat did hold up to multiple washing, where after one wash, I now have a two inch hole in the Maxi-Cosi. The hole is on a seam, and upon examining the stitching, I am surprised that the whole cover did not unravel, as the stitches are huge and loose. Time now to learn how strong their customer service is.
UPDATE: I called customer service and they have no issues with a seat manufactured on 11/11/09 coming apart on 2/19/2010. They claim that you can only HAND WASH their product, and that does not mean the "Hand Wash Cycle." Yes, Donna Reed, they want you to hang over your bathtub and scrub the cover by hand and then leave it dripping for a day, because you really don't need your car seat, do you? I tried to explain that I would not have purchased a product that cannot be washed due to time constraints and the CSR's comment was "we advertise it in our instruction manual." Sorry, but I did not read it until (drum roll) I purchased the product. Now, to make this all better, they will ALLOW me to buy another seat cover.

We bought this car seat because the of the size -- one of the few that fits into our small back seat. I would probably rate this seat higher if we didn't end up having twins and someone lent us a $50 Cosco seat from Walmart which we prefer.
Pros:
- 3 reclining positions which is easy enough to adjust with one hand from the front passenger seat. On long trips this feature is nice - upright to look around, reclined to sleep.
- Nice padding which does provide good support.
- Easy to install with the latch system. We've reinstalled a few times due to growing baby. (I did all of the harness adjustments with the seat / baby on the floor in our house and took the seat to the car and latched it in -- very easy.)
Cons:
- Not convinced of the quality -- the accent color on the plastic part of the harness has already worn off.
- Wasn't thrilled to find it listed as "medium" for toxic chemicals on [...]
- The shoulder straps and plastic piece that goes over the chest don't stay in place very well and we find it more difficult to buckle and tighten the straps than the Cosco seat.
- It's bulkier than the Cosco seat and sits further forward so our 1-year old is already kicking the front seat.
