This is a great middle of the road car seat. It's a little difficult to set-up the first time. But after that, it gets easier. Read the manual first. It will save you some time. In the reverse position, this seat takes a huge amount of space. I have a BMW X5 and the passenger seat is so far forward, no one can use it. That would probably be true for any of the larger car seats though. My daughter is 9 months old and likes it well enough. I know the space issue will be better when we can turn it around.

I'm not sure why anyone would not give this 5 stars. We have 3 of these car seats for 2 kids in 2 different cars.
Great product for the price and it's no harder to install or stap in than any of the other car seats!
Love this seat and great value for the price.

I bought this seat for my 8 month old son after reading all these great reveiws on amazon. After I ordered it I saw a flyer at my sons Doctors office with a list of recommended and not recommended seats. I was suprised to see that the booster part of this seat is not a recommened seat. I had the seat installed anyways because he is to small for the booster part anyway. After having the seat installed I gave it a shake to make sure it was secure. It wasent!!!!!No matter how tight we tried to get it the belts for the latch system would not stay tight. So I called Dorrell Junville Group the maker of the seat. They told me I probably bought a seat that was not compatable with my car. I guess I must have missed that part that said not compable with Subaru's or Dodge's????? I asked them simply to take the seat back and refund my money. The lady told me I was being ridiculous and hung up the phone on me!! Some cusomer service!!!! Luckly Amazon was nice enough to take it back. Needless to say I will NEVER EVER buy anything made by saftey first!!!!! Because they could care less about childrens saftey!!! I went out and bought the Graco Natulis. Its wonderful!!!

Provided that you never have to
(a) attach the car seat *securely* to the car (or heaven forbid, have to move it between two cars), or
(b) adjust the straps securing the child,
this will be a fine car seat you.
With two kids (3,5) traveling usually in our minivan, but occasionally in our sedan, and 3 car seats total (two Britax Boulevards and one Britax Marathon), we got sick of frequently transferring a car seat between the two cars. Granted, it was a Britax, so it transferred very easily, but still, lugging a car seat from one car to the other is not much fun. So, we started shopping for a fourth car seat. Not really wanting to spend another $[...] (sometimes less on sale) for another Boulevard (which we do love...), we looked at Babies R Us and found the Alpha Omega Elite on sale for $[..], if I recall. The reviews of it seemed to be good and we liked saving the money, so we bought it.
Enter problem (a), attaching the car seat *securely* to the car. We've had several car seats, and I don't usually have any problem putting car seats in cars. And, I've gotten used to the fact that the Britax models can be, very quickly, secured VERY well to the car --- to the point that if you move the car seat, the car moves. I use the LATCH connector, as it is typically most convenient and easy to use (don't have to worry about the type of seat belts, etc). The AOE car seat has a one piece strap with two fish hook type connectors on it. And, even if I kneel on the seat when I try to tighten the LATCH belt, I simply can't get it very tight without a lot of effort (usually several tries). And, once I get it reasonably tight (say, moving only a few inches when I push the seat, unlike no movement on the Britax), it is extremely hard to remove from the car (or unlatch to try to tighten further if it just isn't quite tight enough), since the fish hook connectors are not easy to use. I've been spoiled by the Britax, with its 2 separate connectors, with seat-belt buckle type connectors, which make this easy in and easy out.
Suprisingly, the rear tether is designed even worse. The place where the tether cable connects to the car seat is well below the top of the seat (where the force will actually be applied to the cable). Probably 2 inches below. May not sound like much, but the cable goes up the seat, then over the seat, then straight back down. Because of this, the tether attempts to hold the seat against the seat of the car with a strap that is pulling up, rather than against the seat. Sure, if you get into an accident (or just pull the car seat forward), the tether will be trying to stop the car seat from moving forward. But it is pretty much useless insofar as it helps tighten the car seat into the car. All in all, I am not able to get the tether very tight at all (again, the car seat can move say 2-3 inches). Again, both Britax models we have have perfectly usable tether designs, which have straps attach way up near the top, and can actually be tightened completely in practice, in a car.
Alpha Omega Elite's tether and LATCH belt both seem like they may be reasonable designs, on paper, but they just don't work well in our experience.
On to part (b). In the Britax models, there's a lever near the base of the seat, between where the child's knees sit, and if you lift it and pull on the strap holding in the kid, it loosens, facilitating easy removal of the kid, and easy resizing (say, 2 different kids, or a kid now wearing a bulky coat). To tighten, you pull on the wide strap, and the strap *easily* tightens --- and because the Britax models can be mounted extremely securely in the car, the car seat doesn't move when you do this. In the AOE, it is a thin strap, that doesn't loosen or tighten smoothly, and since the seat isn't in the car nearly as tightly (and remember now that the tether isn't actually holding the seat at the top, which is where the force you're applying to tighten the strap is trying to move the seat...) you're pulling the seat forward with you and not having much success.
After getting sufficiently sick of the car seat, we sent it off to the grandparents' car for at most occasional use, and we'll be getting another car seat.
Learn from our mistake. There are car seats that attach securely to the car, and are easy to use. Pay the extra money (maybe $[...] --- it is worth it for your child's safety and your own sanity) and get such a car seat (the Britax Boulevard is our favorite). Do it. The $'s saved don't count if you buy another car seat to replace the cheaper one anyways.

In the begining I wanted to say that I would give it 4.5 stars but that's not possible, now lets move onto the review. I was installing it today in a 2008 Nissan Altima as a rear facing seat using the LATCH system that comes with the car seat. As many others I ran into a lot of trouble in the begining trying to get this seat to attach firmly and level with the ground. While at first I thought as many others it would be impossible, once figured out it really was pretty simple.
First of all when installing the seat even if I tightened it as hard as I could it still moved freely from side to side, I didnt even try to level it at that point because it seemed impossible. I then tried, as per some youtube videos, to install it with towels to level it out thinking it would help with the movement. Well, I did succeed in making it much more paraller with the ground (not perfectly) but the seat was still jiggling left and right wildly. One problem while using the base with towels is that I found the LATCH cable to be way to short, it was hardly long enough to connect onto the car latches. It made it very difficult to tighten the cable.
I then thought to install the seat without the base, after checking the website I found it to be safe, as the base is just an accessory and probably it's actually better to not use it at all if not needed. Without the base it seemed like the seat would be angled better and easier to level with the ground. First attempt without towels did not work so I went onto installing it with towels (the cable now was long enough without the base for easy installation) and was able to almost get a perfect level. However, the seat was flying all over the place even after tightning it to what I thought was a snugg enough fit. Not untill I really leaned with my whole body's weight and tightened the cable did it fit firmly. I got it to the point where the seat hardly moved at all. To get it to level out with ground I had to play around with it a couple more times, I disconnected the latch system and adjusted the belts trying to position the seat better. After about 3 attempts I was able to get the seat to level out perfectly and got it to the point where the seat almost doesnt move at all.
One issue I run into while tightening the belts is that if more pressure is applied, the car seat squishes the towels and thus the seat leans forward making leveling it very hard. You have to play with the tightening and positioning the towels untill it all matches to your liking and to the instructions. The seat can move up to 1 inch in each direction so you might want to tighten it just a bit less in order for the seat to stay level.
I would also greatly recommed one of those seat pads to save your car seat, especcially if you have leather. When you tighten the belts the seat will literraly rip into the seat's material and I can only imagine after a few months of use the seat will show a lot of wear and tear. If you care about your car seats it will really come in handy as it will protect the material, you can find a couple good ones here on amazon.
I have also seen people complain about the cushoning on the car seat. We originally got this same seat version at Babie's R US but a different color from this picture. It had hardly any cushining on it at all and was very tough as some others mentioned that ordered it here. I remembered looking at them at the store and they were a lot more comfy. We returned that model and ordered the same color as this item online from Babies R US (All solid black and grey), when it arrived it had a lot more cushin to it. I think it might be that some colors are made differently because this same seat in store had different colors and some felt softer then others. The model in black and gray but with lines crossing seemes to be of a lesser quality.
Also a lot of people complain about the easy of use, etc but I think this seat is extremely easy to use. Now, I am probably a lot more handy with things then many other people but I really do not think it can be that difficult as many others mentioned. I feel that some fold are just not as intuitive to stuff like this and simply are not handy, they should take the seat to someone who knows what they are doing because it is possible to make it work. I do usually spend less time trying to complete projects like this so I can agree that it can be a project. All in all it took me about an hour to get it all figured out, and at first I did think I could not do it like many others.
