We have used this infant seat with our 3-month-old son since the day we brought him home from the hospital, and we couldn't be happier. In fact, the hospital staff person who inspects carseats for all new parents said this is one of the best and safest models she's seen. It is easy to install and use, and the super simple adjustable straps are a lifesaver for getting the baby in and out with ease. The newborn insert helped him be more comfortable the first several weeks. The fabric is easy to clean and the simple colors (we have the Adventure green color) work well for either boys or girls, so we could reuse the seat if our next child is a girl.
The only real drawback we've found is the weight of the seat itself, which gets pretty hefty once you add the baby. If you have trouble lifting and plan to carry the baby around in the seat a lot, this would be a concern. But we mostly just take him from the house to the car and the car to wherever we're going in it, so it's not a big deal.
Also, be aware that the seat does not have the notch on the underside that Graco and some others do to allow it to sit up on the child-seat area of a shopping cart. We set him down in the basket of the cart, which takes up a lot of the space but is also safer. The instructions advise against putting the carseat up on the cart like that anyway.
I doubt I'll be lugging him around in the seat when he's 30 pounds, but it's nice to be able to continue to use it as a rear-facing carseat for a longer time than the standard seats with 22 pound limits. Considering the fact that our son is 16 pounds at 3 months, getting the seat with the higher weight limit was a good move for us.
Overall, we highly recommend this carseat. We did a lot of research and Chicco seats come out on top for safety and ease of use in many studies and reviews. It's worth the extra money to have the best product for something you use every day, especially when it could save your baby's life in case of a car accident.

I purchased this car-seat based on the wonderful reviews I read here and elsewhere including Consumer Reports. It really does seem like a comfortable seat - far more plush than the other carrier seats I examined - but unfortunately is too large to fit in my 2009 Prius. The base hangs over the edge of the seat by a good 2". Luckily, I tried to install it the same day it arrived and was able to return it quickly and without fuss. We ended up purchasing a Britax Boulevard, which seems must larger, but fits comfortably in the middle of the back seat.

This seat has lasted until 7 months, and would go a little longer. My son is about 20 pounds, but is growing out of the height range. I have been very happy with this car seat! The pads wash very well, even after spit-ups and diaper blow-outs. You would never know to look at the pads. It clicks into the base easily and is very simple to install. A t the hospital they preferred this one because it lays newborns back a little more. remember to take the newborn insert out when your child reaches the appropriate size, and adjust the strap heights. This is VERY easy to do.
This car seat is heavy and I almost never carry him in it. I don't know how it compares to other seats, but add a 10-20 pound baby and it's too much for me. I use a Maclaren Easy Traveller (much recommended over the coordinating Chicco travel system strollers) to get him everywhere. Put the seat in the frame, put the baby in, and go. The only time I lift the seat is to get it from the stroller frame inside the car.
I would buy this seat again, but leave out the Cortina stroller.

We had the Chicco Keyfit with our first baby and loved it. To bad I gave it away to a friend, weeks before I found out I was pregnant again. Now with a second baby on the way, we purchased the Chicco Keyfit 30 on Amazon for a great price. Chicco makes a very safe and easy to install car seat. I only wish they were a little lighter.

My husband and I originally purchased this on the recommendation of a friend. We liked the way it looked and it had pretty good reviews. We knew it was for safety, but I was attracted to the style and extended use (due to it lasting up to 30 lbs). Now our baby is 6 months old and on her second Chicco Keyfit 30 car seat.
We were in an accident when she was 5 months old and rolled our SUV one and a half times, landing upside down. She stayed put - she started crying but there wasn't a scratch on her, thank God. As a precaution we took her by ambulance to Dell Children's Hospital, but she checked out OK with all of the doctors there. They told us to keep doing what we had been doing, and that the car seat not only saved her life, but saved her from minor/serious injury. Our doctor also told us that having your child in an infant seat as long as possible is the best way to keep them safe.
We went onto Amazon the next day and ordered the exact same car seat (you have to replace ANY car seat after an accident). Here's a pros/cons list from our use so far:
Cons:
- Hot, low air-flow fabric (we live in Austin and she does sweat in it during the summer)
- Size makes it sit higher in grocery cart "seat" section than other car seats
- Ummm, I can't really think of another con :)
Pros:
- Stays locked right-side-up and up-side-down in accidents
- Lasts up to 30 lbs instead of 25 lbs like other seats
- Totally washable (she's projectile vomited in it *and the keyfit stroller* 3 times, and I've machine washed every bit of it)
- The base makes it easy to take in and out of your car without unstrapping the baby (my in-laws LOVED this feature)
- Stays put with either the seat locks or a seat belt securing it (the base was secured with a seat belt in the accident)
- Level on base and instructions on base make installation easy (you don't even have to refer to the manual)
- Ability to lock into the stroller makes shopping trips easier
